At Disney Parks, a bracelet to build loyalty

ORLANDO, Fla. Imagine Walt Disney World with no entry turnstiles. Cash? Pass: Visitors would wear rubber bracelets encoded with credit card information, snapping up corn dogs and Mickey Mouse ears with a tap of the wrist.

Do i smell that awful scent of corporate GREED?.....Why else would Disney contemplate changing an extremely successful method of operation? Poor Walt will be spinning in his freezer soon.....

It's the next logical step...

Room keys now have RF technology, but even before that, they still knew when you entered and left your room. Park passes record when you enter and which park. Room keys with charging privileges record what you are purchasing.

So, at the end of the day, who gives a rat's azz if Disney consolidates room key, purchasing, and park entry technology into one item?

The only question I have is: Are Annual Passholders going to have to wear a bracelet year-round? LOL

Oh, and take the whole Big Brother thing a step further: E-Z Pass (Sun Pass in FL) records where you are going and how fast.

Your cell phone can triangulate your location at any given time.

Every website you visit is recorded.

Those frequent shopper cards you get a grocery stores? They don't exist because the vendor wants to be generous. They exist to provide purchasing data to manufacturers. YOUR purchasing data.

Not only do the shopper's cards pass on info to the vendors, they have been crucial in many criminal investigations where dumb criminals use their cards when purchasing items(bleach, big garbage bags, and plastic body size containers) for the clean-up of their crimes.

Your are right, of course....it's awful intrusive, in a creepy way....Now, they are talking about a deal at Disney, where you pay more and get a special privelege bracelet, that allows you to go to the front of every line....that sucks....

To use a worn-out phrase, Big Brother s already here and watching. Only us folks who remember days when we couldn't have every movement, purchase, phone call, TV show, or internet site recorded on some vast system feel the resentment all this monitoring and blatant interference.

It's so insidious it'll make you nuts to think about it. I was looking at battery powered lanterns (after Hurricane Sandy) online and now I get a jillion pop-up ads for them. I looked at a couple of tents (not related to the storm)and now I get every Deal-of-the-Day ad for them as well.

The internet is the Beast and the cell phones are the horns on the beast, but we've been conditioned to think neither we or the next generation can live without them.
