ty, realrap. finally someone who sees it differently. maybe the movie messed up a lot of the facts and characters so all i can say is whats in the movie

but the "victim" SHOULD have left or called when he was given the opportunity. he knew it was about his halfbrother and letting it "play out" as he said in the movie is just gonna makes things a helluva lot worse. no, he didnt know or think he would die but he was just fueling the feud between his brother and johny truelove. plus, if he had really was friends with timberlakes character, why would he want to extend his kidnapping basically ensuring that his parents would contact the police and prosecute....why? cause he a freakin moron...why should i or anyone care if a moron dies?

the halfbrother comes off crazier and more unstable than johnnie truelove in the movie...why does everyone seem to think the opposite? i didnt know the ending when i first saw it but by the buildup it seemed like the kid would be returned and the halfbrother would not stop until he killed johnnie or was killed by him.

the dude that played johnnie, emil hirsch i think, wasnt that believable as a leader of a drug circle. it was almost laughable the way he went through the motions. maybe he was suppose to come off as a 12 year old in over his head trying to be cool but not sure how yet. he was better in the movie "girl next door".

i dont know anything about the real case and dont care. it was just a movie to me; one probably not worth seeing again.

I am completely haunted by this movie. I have never seen a movie that has bothered me so much, and I've seen way more movies than the average person. Even if the movie's story was altered from the real story, it is still completely disturbing. The scene where Frankie leads him to believe that he would never harm him, and then tapes him up will haunt me for the rest of my life. The kid was so sweet. Even though he was doing drugs and having sex at such a young age, you could still see how sweet and good hearted he was. Based on the movie, I really truly believe that he would not have ratted the kidnappers out. I was extremely disappointed with Frankie because until the "horrible scene" he seemed like a pretty good guy. Yeah, Frankie seemed young and stupid with all the drugs and parties, but he still seemed to be a good guy. I was so let down and heart broken that he didn't protect the Kid. If it were up to me, they would all get the death penelty... They all have life in prison, or the death penelty which has such irony because the reason they killed him was to escape that fate. Nicholas Markowitz was born 3 weeks before me. I'm going to be 23 in a few months and if these selfish cold blooded murderers would have chose a better path in life, Nicholas would be turning 23 too... This is such a tragic story!

Kimmie,
Writing in all caps is considered screaming, so please stop screaming. You have every right to say what your opinions are, but stop yelling at everyone, please.

I agree with the quote below. So many who posted in response to Jesse's law suit and the movie in general are highly emotionally charged after watching the movie. I think a couple of things are extremely important to remember #1 Each of us has a different reality-By that I mean, we don't all have fancy houses, or do we all have the difficulties of living on the streets. That doesn't necessairily make either group stupid guys. What that makes us is...well, what we are. If we keep calling each other names, fighting, etc., then things like what happened in the movie will continue to happen.#2 So many witnesses and yet no one did anything. Did the first two women who saw Nick get kidnapped call the police? I don't know. Do you ever call when you think something is suspicious? Think about it. You maybe say to yourself "oh it's probably nothing" or "someone else probably already called about it." We each need to do our part and not feel stupid or burdened when we are needed in society.
[We need to teach them that it is okay to not go along with the crowd when we know that something is morally wrong. Most importantly what it means to be a friend. True friends protect you and lead you when you go down the wrong path./QUOTE]

If you support that son of a bitch you really should put yourself in Nick's shoes. Im not one to say what his last thoughts were but I can bet you it wasnt fluffy things and candy. A movie may portray this guy as a jack ass with a god complex but isnt that what he is? He orders other people around for his own enjoyment. There is a word for this SOCIOPATH. i wouldnt doubt he had underlying psychotic tendencies and the fact that he pulled a good old charles manson and makes another dude pull the trigger for him because hes a coward and doesnt have the balls to do it himself. that doesnt say much. As for Ben and Nick's family I have been through losing loved ones, not in the same way most were self inflicted, but i know the worst always pasts and I hope that things are well. Nick is in my prayers.

I am from Bosnia and I know how it feels to lose someone close to you, now this is a little different what happened to Nick. But if ever Jesse James was released, man I bet Nick's brother would do anything to put little Jesse in a world of pain. It is best that he stays locked up behind bars because the outside world would eat him alive, so lets just hope this little punk stays inside and cuddles with real gangsters, im sure his punk wannabe gagster ass loves it.

I am sorry that you thought I was screaming at you. I was only screaming at the idiots who agreed with Jessie. Only the ones who say killing a kid is ok. I just don't agree. I watched this movie and it broke my heart. I did research and relized how it was alot like the actual story. I know movies can be one sided making people out to be worse than they really are, but to me (a mom) there is no reason that any kid should be hurt or killed. It just really pisses me off that there are people out there who would actully kill an innocent kid because the kid's brother owed him money for drugs. I am so sorry for Nick's death, I really don't feel sorry for Ben, But the mother breaks my heart, I guess b/c I am a mom too. Again I apologize for everyone who thought I screamed at them, b/c there are alot af good peoples comments and opinions on this subject.

a few things that ladie did call the cops.. in reality she was with her kids and they drove home reciting the license plate # till they got home and called 911, the cops had no leads to that van till a month later....
now i do understand that people get pretty extreme with this stuff but.....
common sense tells us what?....
IT IS WRONG TO KIDNAP, SELL DRUGS AND MURDER.... AND I REMEMBER THAT IN THE MOVIE AFTER NICK(nick is Zacks real name ) WAS KILLED AND FUCKING SHOT NINE TIMES!!!! THEY SHOW A INTERVIEW WITH HIS MOM CRYING AND TALKING ABOUT KILLING HERSELF..... I AM SORRY... BUT THAT FUCKING WOMAN CREATED AN LIFE AND WATCHED IT GROW TO A BEAUTIFUL 15 YEAR OLD BOY AND AFTER 3 DAYS OF NOT KNOWING, AND THEN ALL THE SUDDEN KNOWING WHAT YOU FEARED.... THAT YOUR FREAKING SONS LAST MOMENTS OF LIFE WERE FALSE PROMISES DUCTTAPE AND A SHOVEL TO THE BACK OF THE HEAD.. AND SOME DOUCHE BAG PIONTING A GUN AT YOU.... YOU WOULD BE JUST A BIT FRANTIC TOOO... I think that if the movie potrayes any of the gentlemen involved as bad guys then they should have reconsidered what they did although the intensions might not have been to do so it's all for entertainment purposes only. only God knows what they've done and He is the only one who makes the final judgement. with love to everyone involved in this sad but true event may you seek forgiveness in life.

go to wikipedia and search "nicholas markowitz", at the bottom of the page is a link for nicholas' memorial. it is quite moving and very controversial in places. check out pages 148-152. pretty intense conversation from his mother and family to an anonymous friend of graham pressley (the 17 yr old who dug the shallow grave)who has some very serious issues.

I saw that somebody said that it was stupid that the Ryan Hoyt {{Elvis Guy}} killed the kid just to be accepted into the circle of friends. That is completly false, what really happened was that he had a big debt with Jesse James because he didnt pay for drugs or something and Jesse said that he would get rid of the debt if he kill Nick.
At the end of the movie I felt bad for Jesse Rugge {{Jusin Timberlake}} because he really was friends with the 15 year old boy and he didnt really want to go through with it. I was really mad at the end of the movie because I though something at the end would happen like Timberlake would shot or attack Elvis and stopped him because I really stop he was going to stop him. I didnt think that timberlake really deserved life sentence.
Well on the perspective on Jesse I think that he deserved to go to prision the most because he was incharge of everything and he led them and he didn't bother calling up his friend to tell them not to do anything when his father told him to which i thought was stupid because he could have stopped a few people from dying such as Elvis because he had a death penalty and Nick died.
I was wondering what the heck happened to the older brother, where did he go because he was the main reason in this whole movie. I think that he was the whole reason for the movie because he didnt pay Jesse. He should have got the biggest sentence because he was so mad at Jesse for the first half of the movie then at the other half he goes away.
As a conclusion I think that Alpha Dog was a really good movie but if you look up the facts its really intresting

like many of you i watched the movie and was truly heartbroken. in this tragedy more then Nick's life was ended, his brother has to live with the fact he died for him. the young men involved to include Hollywood lives are now ruined, for what a $1200, to prove a point. what started as a joke turned into a ugly scene where a teenage boy lost he life. you look at the movie and hope that the ending will change, your hoping that Frankie takes Zach home, you want Johnnie to make that call to call the whole think off. Maybe the characters in the movie where exaggerated far from the truth, but at the end of the day Zach dies the same horrible way Nick did. I think this story had to be told, Hollywood is trying to distract us from the fact he was the one who set the hit, the other was pawns, pawns just do as they are told with out any real thought. behind every pawn there is a king (mastermind), Hollywood was just that. He had 5 years of freedom he didn't deserve, this is another ploy to get off, I say no for Nick's mother who will never get the chance to see her son graduate, raise a family of his own, for her I say F*ck Jesse Hollywood and whatever he stands for.

Its so strange, but like you while i was watching this event unfold, i kept thinkin to myself, just take the kid home, maybe you will get kidnapping charges but it does not need to go in the other direction. I was really trying to understand, WHY!! it had to go the way it did, it was so senseless to me, to kill that young boy.

You woudn't be supporting him if Nick was your son, brother, or friend. I think you are the only moron here for your stupid comments. I hope he gets the death penalty and rots in jail.
