I should think the fact there aren't any snakes in Ireland is proof enough that he successfully banished all the snakes. You damn Judas!

Read the article.

You know, the first part, where it says THERE NEVER WERE SNAKES IN IRELAND.

The story of St. Patrick banishing snakes from Ireland is a myth, nothing more.

Hey, we have a saying in the U.S.:

On St. Patrick's Day, EVERYONE is Irish.

I HATE that saying! No, everyone is NOT Irish on St. Pat's Day. I am Irish... well, part. On Martin Luther King Day, I am not black!

On Cinco de Mayo, I am not Mexican...

That whole "Everyone's Irish..." thing is a real pet peeve of mine!! LOL. Why can't people be proud of who and what they are??

How can you get rid of something that was never there to begin with?

That's like saying I've banished all the porcupines from my house... when I've never had a single one in my home...

Guessing that you do not have the Sense of Humor gene in your body like some. Next time you may want to take things a little more lightly, then trying to be so serious that your butt puckers every time you get on the Internet.

There are Porcupines in your house. I hope that your dog does not try to sniff them. BTW, their quills make good Blow Darts.

Believe me, I have a sense of humor gene.

Perhaps you should make your intent of humor a little more clear... an LOL or a smiley face.

Over used? Yes. But, it conveys humor when humor is not always evident.

St. Patrick never brought any faith to Ireland. And according to the Bible,in Paul's letters to "The Saints" They were living believers. How long must people live in the past and depend on traditions of men?

Saint Patrick's Day or the Feast of Saint Patrick (Irish: Lá Fhéile Pádraig, "the Day of the Festival of Patrick") is a cultural and religious holiday celebrated on 17 March, the anniversary of his death. It commemorates Saint Patrick (c. AD 387–461), the most commonly recognised of the patron saints of Ireland, and the arrival of Christianity in Ireland.
It is observed by the Catholic Church, the Anglican Communion (especially the Church of Ireland),the Eastern Orthodox Church and Lutheran Church. Saint Patrick's Day was made an official feast day in the early seventeenth century, and has gradually become a celebration of Irish culture in general.

The story is a metaphor. Let me start by pointing out the imagery. In pagan traditions, the snake is a powerful creature that was used by the druids of the time, and in the book of Genesis, the snake represents satan.

The story of St. Patrick driving out the snakes is actually recounting how he drove away the Pagans and brought Christianity to Ireland.
