The world's largest solar power plant, made up of thousands of mirrors focusing the sun's energy, has officially started operations in Nevada's Mojave Desert.

Yeah O.K., Ivanpah is online and from the article:"The plant, which went online Thursday, is to power 140,000 homes. It was dedicated by U.S. Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz. "
It is a concentrated solar project, but has NO heat storage, so it isn't a replacement for a natural gas peaker plant as it can't be used as a spinning power source to the grid. It is a peak power generation source. If you want to power 140,000 homes, then put a 3 KW peak solar PV system on 140,000 roofs. CSP without storage is not needed, Ivanpah is not needed nor is Palen in Riverside county.
