Why Solar Power is Pure ECO:nomics
How many of you have solar panels installed on your roof? This question was asked last week of an audience at the Wall St Journal's annual ECO:nomics conference.

""If any of these statements seem surprising to you, youre not alone. According to Rive,Often there is a stigma associated with solar solar is expensive. This is not true. In fact, solar electricity in 14 states is cheaper than conventional energy People need to start understanding that they can get cheaper and cleaner energy."
Some, soon many power utilities will have some kind of tiered rate structure in effect. Putting in enough solar PV to keep out of the top tiers of electricity usage pays for itself rather quickly. Some folks in the California sphere of influence of SCE and PG&E have paid for their solar PV systems in 5 to 7 years. It doesn't look like electric rates will decrease in the long term. As things are right now, if one has say 30K in the bank getting a whopping 0.5% to 1.0% interest, you could do better by putting 30K worth of solar PV on your roof and offset or eliminate your home's electric bill for life. If electricity is 11 cents per KWh or above, you would get a better return with 30K of solar on the roof than 30K in the bank.
