1. In recent weeks, Germany has led growing opposition to the move, winning the support of 17 other member nations, including Britain but not France.

2. German Economy Minister Philipp Roesler said as the announcement was being made that it was “a serious mistake,” with Berlin firmly opposed.

3. Representatives from EU firms engaged in the solar energy industry that rely on imported components from China have lobbied equally hard against imposing tariffs, claiming they would be counterproductive and hurt the business and industry overall.“Any level of duties will severely hurt demand, causing job losses and dealing a massive blow to the European solar industry,” the Alliance of Affordable Solar Energy said. It said profit margins were already very tight and that even duties “as low as 11 percent will put a HALT to most of (solar energy) projects in the EU.”

4. France criticized China's anti-dumping probe into EU wine. France is most affected as China is her biggest market.

And one ignorant idiot from UK unawared of the consequences wrote, "About time too" when her own government opposed this move. Much like the CARBON TAX imposed by EU.

The trade to China in wine is about £700m per year.

The trade in solar panels from China is around £18Bn a year.

The proposed tax is about 50%.

No wonder Chinese people want to make it look like a bad idea. We pay off the wine makers, pocket £8.3 Bn in profit and get £700m in free wine.

In contrast the chinese taxpayers lose £8.3Bn and never get to know what it's like to drink champagne.

Not to mention the fact that China risks being kicked out of the WTO because they aren't fullfilling their obligations as a most favoured nation.
