Ken Wells states some very good points in his article. The major problem is the wrote institutionalization of the America consumer. Remember the Cadillac commercial with the blond that says,"When you turn your car on, does it return the favor?" This kind of marketing drives the auto industry. People will justify the high end car, but would have to "pencil out" putting solar on their home. Most folks will buy a car many times in their lifetime, for the same cost or now less, you could buy solar PV and drastically reduce or eliminate your electric bill for life. The solar you only have to do once.
