As a former employee of URS-Engineered Products and one who was also here around the start of the TRUPAC manufacturing process in Carlsbad, I have to say that I am absolutely astounded by our community's ambivalence regarding the loss of over 100 (not just 60) good paying manufacturing jobs here.
Replacing over a hundred people with 8 to 10 people??? Where is the outcry? Why have we not heard anything from the leadership at the Chamber of Commerce? Where is the DOD on this? Were they out there working towards finding a buyer that would save these jobs for Carlsbad?
Where is our Mayor Dale "don't ripple the water" Janway on this!? He should have immediately issued a strong public statement decrying URS for letting these jobs go!
How about something from State Representative Brown??!! Congressman Pearce? Anybody?

To drive the final nail into the coffin on EPD, all of their manufacturing equipment was auctioned off last week to outside buyers by URS. That capacity to manufacture stuff here is now gone for good!

Chaulk that up to the "To Carlsbad with Love from URS" category.
