I love steamed muscles so I was anxious to do some quick research on the Zebra muscle, which I found was very edible, low fat, and quite tasty depending on preparation. However,-CAUTION- they tend to have high concentrations of contaminants in them due to the fact that many of our waterways are now so significantly polluted.
