How Does Solar Energy Work?
The most abundant form of energy ever known has always been there. Through the course of human history, the Sun has offered, without cost, its light and heat for the benefit of every living organism on this rock we call Earth.

"The future of solar power is an ever evolving process that is exploring new materials for its eventual advancement. Higher efficiency materials like gallium arsenide, copper-indium-diselinide and cadmium-telluride are being used to produce amorphous cells that are more sensitive to different parts of the light spectrum. Stacking cells made of these materials allows for the capture of more available light."
Manufacturers like nanosolar, first solar, global solar are manufacturing alternative material solar cells. Nanosolar makes their cells in a roll to roll process that can create miles of solar PV material to make into panels.
Since inventions like refrigeration and air conditioning have become common place in almost every home in the country, we spend an inordinate amount of energy keeping a home's environment 'conditioned'. Instead of fighting nature, using nature to condition the home's environment is a better option. Solar hot water with storage can help heat the home, solar PV can help run air conditioners, fans and other devices to help keep the home comfortable. One other solar system that requires notice. Parabolic Trough systems which are more efficient than solar panels. Used primarily for Major Utility grids. With a small fraction of our deserts the entire world could obtain all their power requirements from such systems. Already in use and many more on the drawing boards. Check out Southern California Utilities or Las Vegas obtaining large portions of solar parabolic energy to supplement their energy requirements. Thats just the tip of a growing berg.
