Analysis raises atmospheric, ecologic and economic doubts about forest bioenergy

There are 1 comment on the EurekAlert! story from Apr 18, 2012, titled Analysis raises atmospheric, ecologic and economic doubts about forest bioenergy. In it, EurekAlert! reports that:

A large, global move to produce more energy from forest biomass may be possible and already is beginning in some places, but scientists say in a new analysis that such large-scale bioenergy production from forest biomass is unsustainable and will increase greenhouse gas emissions.

The problem I see with this study is that does not address beetle kill and other insect related killing of tree's that cover millions of acre’s. In addition the studies concerns about harvesting practices do not identify all the certification organizations in the world who are promoting healthy forest management. Biomass fuel producers are unlike other green energy producers such as wind and solar who need subsides because biomass can be produced with little interruption in production, where as wind solar are dependent on the wind to blow and the sun to shine. Biomass addresses so many of the forest situations that arise from over growth, wildlife management, fire mitigation, insect control and water shed health. When all of these items can be put into the study I believe there is a balance not a tipping of the scale one direction or the other.
