California's aggressive plans to transition to a clean-energy economy could expose consumers and state government to higher than necessary prices, according to a report released Monday by the Little Hoover Commission.

"The PUC's Energy Division has been working on a five-year rate forecasting project and found that, overall, utility rates are expected to increase by just 2 to 3 percent a year over the next five years."

Yeah, right. The CPUC has already given SCE a 5% increase, Edison asked for a 16% increase in electic rates. Instead of 2 to 3% will it be more like 5% per year? Edison has tiered electric rates so now it will be 13.6 cents, 16.8, 24.15, 29.4 and a top tier rate of 33.6 cents per KWh. Time to pay it forward and put some solar PV on one's roof. www.dsireusa.org
