If I got a dollar every time Government officials have said this issue, or that one is "Top priority" I'd be a rich man. How many 'top'priorities can someone have lol.

I think we all should move towards renewable energy as a world movement, but I think developed nations should lead the way and third world countries like us should focus on cheap energy so we can catch up as far as we can and then move with the rest of the world to renewable energy.

First reason is because Tonga had next to nothing to do with filling the world with green house gases.

Second, developed nations are called developed for a reason, poor nations need to first learn from the mistakes of the developed nations in problems they faced, and secondly to also save as much as they can in energy consumption to use on basic infrastructure like roads and ports etc.

Solar power is expensive. I haven't read the article but I won't be surprised if 'solar energy and renewable energy' is on the Government "top" priority because it will be funded by overseas tax payers again, on Governments wishlist again. Let's welcome foreign aid but not grow dependent on it. We have to make a future where if foreign aid pulls all the future aid out of Tonga, Tonga will still be standing strong and pushing for growing our economy.
