You cannot legislate against stupidity among the voters. The issue will come up again and again until the dinosaurs die off. AGW isn't going away (and Australians have a first hand view of the climate change issue).

One regressive government will back it out. The next progressive government will put it back in. We need a global treaty (i.e Kyoto Accord under UNFCCC) to back it globally.

New paper finds Pacific cyclone activity is at the lowest levels of the past 5,000 years.

If you go back far enough (in this case 5,000 years, putting it into a totally different regime where the whole planet was recovering from the last ice age) you can find worse for ANYTHING.

But recent (industrial epoch) has been to increased severity, consinant with higher levels of thermal energy being transferred by cyclonic storms (as the seas are warmer). It does NOT rebut the claim that Typhoon Hayack was probably stronger due to AGW.
