USDA asks White House to approve sugar-for-ethanol program
The White House will decide in coming weeks whether to attempt to blunt low prices in the U.S. sugar market by buying hundreds of thousands of tons of surplus sugar and selling it at a loss to ethanol makers.

Just more corrupt government picking winners and losers. If this is the right thing to do, keep the government out and let the free market decide. Here the government is planning to buy sugar at very high prices and sell it to oil companies at very low prices leaving the taxpayers to pay the difference. Why have a market for anything if the government is going to price things.
