What ENRON taught was that it is necessary for government oversight.
Funny thing is the Deep Water Horizon taught us that Government oversiteis far from the answer.

What ENRON taught if anything was that liberal energy policies do not work that well. That solar and wind are part of the problem and not part of the solution.

It also proved that California's energy policy was not working. That the state was dependant on electrical sources that were outside of the control of PGE.
If the government of California had not created the situation in the rush to green power with regulations then ENRON would of not been able to play that game the spot market. And notice the cities who were not affected were those who had a fossil fuel powered soruce of electricity. Those who relied on wind and solar had the problems.
Yes ENRON, taught the world some lessons that those in sunny California failed to learn. And now others have the fingers on Califronia's electrical juggler, Some of which reside in Mexico and Canada. Outside of the reach of US laws.

Personally, I feel that we need to start understanding our impact on global warming, and work in whatever way we can to reduce our carbon footprint. It may be like a drop in an ocean, but then every drop counts! It cant be that difficult to walk those few blocks instead of taking out your vehicle; or turning off those light when they are not in use. Plastic has become such an important aspect of our life but we don't realize exactly how badly it affects our environment! Change begins at our society, in our home, and in our daily life! Once every human is empowered and conscious of the impact of his actions on the globe, things will definitely move in a positive direction!

Sure. Thanks for publishing a worthwhile post as your first. <smiles>

How about this? Taking lessons from history, the colonialists did not hand back freedom without fighting a colony's war of independence. A lot of people died in those wars for freedom.

The big polluters behave typicallly like the colonialists of the previous centuries. They have armies fighting for them, right?

Hmm, science has a long way to go, it's still unable to explain the most basic thing on/in Earth.
