What it takes to go solar
#1 Jul 28, 2012
The video shows this guy at his AC thermostat and it's set to 75 degrees. Set it at 78 and use ceiling fans, that will also save energy. This guy puts in a system somewhere around 7.8 to 8KW peak on his roof. He also is basically leasing the system. Using some energy saving measures, and buying his own system large enough to keep him out of the top tiers of Edison's rate structure would have served him just as well. He could have owned his own system, probably for less.
