Feds approve 3 major renewable energy projects in West

If you're going to use solar PV, then why not put 4 to 6KW peak solar PV on the roofs of 340,000 homes? Generate the power where it is used, not generated in the booneys and "shipped" to market. If you're not going to have some kind of energy storage for use at night or during cloudy days, then the solar PV installation is less efficient than panels mounted on individual homes. You will still need some kind of spinning and baseload generation facilities available when the large scale PV facilities are offline. Now you're left with natural gas peaker plants or nuclear plants as spinning or baseload generation. Geothermal is not as readily available across the Nation as the other two options.
