Jun 7, 2013 Full story: The Heartland Institute 20

Climatism, the belief that man-made greenhouse gases are destroying Earth's climate, is on the wane.

A false alarm is no more useful the second time around. And both you AND climategate are clearly false alarms.

My thermometer has two lines, one says warming the other says no warming. Mine has been stuck on no warming for 16 years so my thermometer must be in total denial. Know anyone who makes warming thermometers ?

You have to order them from the University of Pennsylvania. It's a fundraising project for the department.

That's what I say too. All these groups making the global warming charts should not deny what the original thermometer readings said and make up their own numbers.

And I really don't think they should be making up temperatures for areas where there were no temperature readings.

Grey areas are areas of no reporting.

Did you know that the chart they make from the 1880s contained so little data? Why did they start with the 1880s?

What would you like to know. It's the negative phase of the PDO and the La Ninas are in force. When these conditions exist we have drought.

Looks like we are doing better as compared to the historical data.

How are they doing that? Each group has it's own method of evaluating the data. Each will use weighting criteria, for example if the temps comes from a high elevation it is weighted for elevation because of a lack of H2O in the atmosphere. Water vapor is the largest greenhouse gas and retains heat. If you live where I live not much water vapor so the heat index is considered low and has to be adjusted to mimic the impact of H2O. That's from the Met Office.

Although you won't find the specific criteria you can locate the general methodology each group uses.

In my area today we are normal. Spring was cool. We didn't have a 90*F temp until the last day of April. May had daytime highs in the 60s and 70s, very unusual, as well as the 80s and 90s.

Heartland? Really now.

Heartland Insider Exposes Institute's Budget and Strategy

An anonymous donor calling him (or her)self "Heartland Insider" has released the Heartland Institute's budget, fundraising plan, its Climate Strategy for 2012 and sundry other documents (all attached) that prove all of the worst allegations that have been levelled against the organization.

It is clear from the documents that Heartland advocates against responsible climate mitigation and then uses that advocacy to raise money from oil companies and "other corporations whose interests are threatened by climate policies." Heartland particularly celebrates the funding that it receives from the fossil fuel fortune being the Charles G. Koch Foundation.

Heartland also continues to collect money from Philip Morris parent company Altria as well as from the tobacco giant Reynolds American, while maintaining ongoing advocacy against policies related to smoking and health.

Heartland's policy positions, strategies and budget distinguish it clear as a lobby firm that is misrepresenting itself as a "think tank" - it budgets $4.1 million of its $6.4 million in projected expenditures for Editorial, Government Relations, Communications, Fundraising, and Publications, and the only activity it plans that could vaguely be considered policy development is the writing of a curriculum package for use in confusing high schoolers about climate change.

Evidence, please?

Or is that denier-speak for "the editors refused to publish anti-science denier BS as a valid alternate viewpoint"?
