Egypt: 5 hours, 58 minutes ago Rocco Forte Hotels today announced it has entered into a contract to help refurbish and then operate the Luxor Hotel in Egypt from 2013 as a luxury hotel.
Business and tourism is totally dead in Luxor and it will take a while to get back to normal. This is indeed strange news at the moment.
Some companies' priorities are in the wrong place.
Money, money, money.
In the meantime local people are struggling with no business.
Believe me, I know. If I had some crap technology gadget that further helped the youth of the world detach from reality and sink into an attention deficit disorder haze I could get funding from multiple sources, in fact theyd be knocking down my door.
But try and create a service that exalts the land of Egypt, its history and people...a service that is based on education and cultural awareness, then nobody gives a damn. EVEN KNOWING that creating tourism is one of the most needed things for Egypt at this time and that this service would not only do that but create jobs for local Egyptians and create revenue for the Museums, Shoppes, Archaeological sites/Vendors, etc...
What a sad world.
