..

so everyone must be dominated by religion and every one must submit to a backward set of Islamic laws dateing back 700 years....

slavery, backwards ideology, ect....

Regardless of what is being said on this forum I think Egypt is wonderful. I have never visited but would love too. I don't know what your customs are or anything much about the gov. My interest is the land of Egypt and everything that is ancient. There are many religions. Many. I say live and let live. To each his own.
America is freedom. WE do have the right to speak freely. I do not understand why your country kills people just for the things they say. OR jails them. I do not understand why the women are treated so badly either. I can not imagine living as they do. Being beaten and treated worse than a dog. Here in US we do not have that. Women are treated equally. We do not have to fear for our lives if something is said that someone doesn't like. We are free to say whatever we want. No man has domination over another be it man or woman. I would love to visit your country. It has been a dream of mine for a long time. But now I am hearing things like how dirty it is and how the peddlers constantly bother people and of course the way the women are treated. It makes one afraid to visit your country which relies on tourism a lot. Things do NOT have to be this way. I wish every nation could live in peace and not .have wars and wars and wars and I do wish that I could visit. Maybe some day things will be different and people won't be afraid to visit these countries. From what I have seen and read Egypt is a fansinating place. It has always been my dream to come there. Is it safe? How are women from other countries treated? lets all just live in PEACE.!!!

See! It could be worse. And it IS worse in the Middle East. What a horrible place to live. And it is caused by mean-spirited "religions."
lol
I can see where it might seem that way from where you sit. Actually it stems from the dictators wanting to keep power, they simply USE the religion often times as a means to an end. Most of the time when someone uses religion, you can rest assured that isn't the way the religion was meant to be practiced.

You can do as I did before I left the states, pop into your local library and check out some books for free, read the history of the ME and about the predominant religions. The more you educate yourself in these matters the more you will begin to think differently. Unfortunately it isn't as black and white as religion.

I saw posters of Mubarak all over the place. I asked who it was to several Eqyptions and the reply was "He is the pig who is supposed to be outr leader but, he ofends Islam by having sex with his own daughters. He thinks he is above the lawand will imprison or kill anyone who talks against him.
I would not advise any tourist to visit that hell-hole of a city, Cairo and Alexandria is worse.
How does he know that the guy has sex with his own daughters? How would he know that?

Like it or not a lot of what this poster says is correct (aside from the daughter thing which is probably just their attempts at insults to their leader).

Egypt is not for the faint of heart nor for those who have little or no money. You can't imagine that most of the population lives on less than 2 dollars a day and if you've never seen real poverty it is quite eye-opening. Egypt is a great place to visit and tour, the sites here you could remember one day and say 'I've been there' and it's a great experience. But you have to know the right places and the right people otherwise it's hell on earth.
