Your logic boils down to "if only a minority of people do something that automatically means there's something wrong with them." Most psychologists would NOT agree. They may not be "normal" by definition but that doesn't mean they are "mentally ill". It must cause trouble functioning. Homosexuality and bisexuality do not cause trouble functioning. Hence, homosexuals and bisexuals are not mentally ill.

The research found that one in six of the 1,400 mental health professionals surveyed reported having helped at least one patient curtail their gay, lesbian or bisexual feelings.

One in 25 psychiatrists or therapists said they would try to treat someone who was having such emotions if asked today.

One anonymous professional who took part in the study said they would help a patient if they held a religious belief that forbade homosexuality. Another said: "The individuals I have worked with have all been very unhappy about their sexuality and wish they were heterosexual."

Academics at St George's, University of London, helped compile the research, which was funded by the Wellcome Trust. A new website - www.treatmentshomosexuality.org.uk - is also being set up where those who have received such treatment, as well as those who have administered it, can provide their own views.

Derek Munn, director of public affairs at Stonewall, the gay and lesbian equality organisation, said: "So-called gay cure therapies are wholly discredited. The conclusions of this research are a welcome reminder that what lesbian and gay people need is equal treatment by society, not misguided treatment by a minority of health professionals."

1. It's NOT disrespectful to the parents. For one thing not all parents are against it so how would it be disrespecting them?

A lot of gay and bisexual people do look and act "normal" and some straight people do not. And why should everybody have to look and act the same? You still have not proven there's anything mentally unhealthy or unnatural about homosexuality. If you're saying you want your beliefs to be respected just because that's what you believe, well let's say there's some ultrareligious family that believes God mandated celibacy and to stay away from even getting close to a relationship like that and thinks that even straight people kissing or holding hands is a bad influence on their kids. Should all heterosexual displays of affection be banned in public, because these people are worried about it being a bad influence on their kids? Or is it the parents' job to keep their kids away from things they feel are inappropriate, rather than the state's job?

In this day and age we'd just keep reproducing with in-vitro. And then what if everybody was bisexual? We'd still be able to produce naturally, so therefore based on your logic it's natural to have gay sex as long as you also have straight sex. What would happen if everybody decided to be celibate and didn't use in-vitro? We'd all die out. Therefore, based on your logic those Catholic priests are going against nature.
