Test scores up???? Maybe, like Atlanta, a lot of educators around the country have felt compelled to "cheat" for their students instead of having to take the heat and lose their jobs because the kids were too lazy or stupid to learn.
Teaching/learning is mutual. A teacher can't teach unless a student is willing to learn, and a student can't learn unless a teacher is willing to teach. So how do YOU determine WHO is NOT doing what they are supposed to be doing?
Yes, test scores were up. Did you not see the data?

Do you have any data to show US test scores were not up?

YOU determine WHO is NOT doing what they are supposed to be doing by measuring results. Individual test scores tell how students are doing and average test score improvements show how (teachers/schools/districts/st ates) are doing.

How about we also make STUDENTS responsible for THEIR education???? Teachers can turn themselves inside out but if the dumbass sitting in front of him/her is more interested in: cell phone, idpod, Facebook, Twitter, American Idol, or some stupid boy or girlfriend then holding the teacher responsible is futile. We have a country full of stupidity and it starts early on because our nation puts more emphasis on fun and entertainment than education. Our kids follow by example.
they already are. the students that WANT to learn, that WANT to get an education and become self reliant, successful citizens do...
the rest of them end up voting for the liberal democrat who promises them the biggest hand outs.
hmmm...does the name barack obama ring a (school)bell?

Charter schools have ruined our educational system.Only the rich get educational opportunities.
Tell that to the Obamas who had their children in a charter school prior to moving to the White House.

Education has to change, move with the times. Education is still in a time warp compared to other areas of our lives.

Changes need to be made.

And make no mistake it was President Obama and Arne Duncan who want Merit Pay for teachers. Republicans support this endeavor. The democrats would make you believe that Merit Pay did not come from the Obama administration, but it was Arne's all the way with BIG support from Obama.

Chicago school system is a MESS! And Arne Duncan was the Superintendent for schools in the Obama community! Obama chose to place his daughters in a charter school instead of the local public school. That says alot!

You point at the wrong person.

NCLB was another Teddie Kennedy baby. Bush's mistake was to allow himself to be conned by an old drunkard.

Along the same lines, the amnesty for illegals Reagan signed was another Kennedy operation. He convinced Reagan that if he signed it, Democrats would permanently clean up illegal immigration with new laws and by enforcing the laws already on the books. As they always do, they walked away from their promises.

Democrats are an example of the old Native American story about the man and the snake:
The snake promised he would not bite the man if he carried him away from the prairie fire to the other side of the river, but when they arrived at the opposite shore the snake bit the man. When the dying man asked why he did that, the snake said "I'm a snake. That's what I do."
Democrats are snakes.

when you quit school before graduation, then the IDIOTS IN WASHINGTON SHOULD MANDATE THAT YOU GET , FINGER PRINTED AND go on file in a nationwide database as a SOCIAL IDIOT, POSSIBLE CRIMINAL, FUTURE LOOSER WITH MISFIT STATUS.instead of spending trillions on educating a backward mentality.. and use the money on those that ACHIEVE. spending trillions on loosers makes the looser and the government bigger loosers

Many private schools are magnet schools (which receive tax payer funding), which serve/cater to "minorities". Sweden is another home of feminism. Feminism has scrwed up the school system here in America and left white men to take the blame.

Testing the children to death is not the answer. Children are starting to hate school.
No recess. No specials. Just lecture. Test. Fail.
All the children are learning is learned helplessness.
This is against all of the research that the USA did on Education.

Save the Children. Give the children a future.

Obama wants to base teacherís salaries on the childrenís tests.
This is just going to drive more talent away from the children that need help the most!
Bring back portfolios. Base teacherís salaries on a meaningful assessment of the teacherís performance.
Retest teacherís knowledge. Look at student portfolios for meaningful assignments. Make teachers submit lesson plans and evaluate the lesson plans. Record the class and have outside assessment companies look at the teacherís performance.

Please save the children. We are organizing walkouts, picket lines, petitions and other forms of protest to bring attention to our childrenís need for an outstanding education. Not a standard education!!

Please organize and protest during National education week November 13th Ė 19th.

When I was in high school (public) the main goal of the teachers was to educate young minds.
Today the typical public school teacher only thinks about him/herself. Only to put the hours in, draw a salary, and join a union so it will be almost impossible to get fired for incompetence.
I received a great HS education, but today's students are ignorant in almost all subjects, especially math and geography and even some college students are lacking.

REVERSE ENGINEERING? instead of busing inner city kids to outer city schools }.THE OLD ANSWER }how about a newer approach ?, lets bus the kids from affluent schools to inner city schools? and wait 40 years. maybe washington can get the dropout rate up to 99%they havesoo much under control these days. i guess the chinese are the villians again. the brain power has truly shifted ,and so have the jobs.and after 40 year of screwing up education ,so now with washington 15trill in debt, the new game is "STICKING THE STATES AND COUNTYS WITH THE PROBLEM." or how about a new answer "no child with its head up its a$$"

Well------B.O. has to undo at least one thing Bush has done. While Candidate Obama, he promised to do everything opposite of what Bush did (except when he didn't know what to do). My thoughts parallel Michelle Bachmann's....that the U.S. Government should close the Education Dept and turn everything back to the states. What business does the U.S. Govt have with education? School taxes are paid by citizens of each state and I'm sure the states could manage that $$ without another layer of Government in D.C. added to the mix.

NOW THAT the washing machine has laundered /bleached /mutilated 14 trillion, i guess the word is out. LOCAL RE-ASSESSMENT OF HOMES is in the works. as in the past the HOME .house, real estate condo, outhouse and garage will pay the counties freight, next the state will grope, grabe and 5 finger discount what they can , then finally the washing machine will change the rules, the tools and re skew all tax tables , laws, insurance , payments, and move society to a new level,AND CALL I REFORMATION, NEWFAIRSHARE ,just riding the fine line between a swindle and a ponzi.. just like the great society programs of lbj.. making everybody and everything dependent on the washing machine.just read the evening news.edu cation is more like government sponsored gangs, crimes, with an anti social outcome.

Parents both have to work to survive. They don't take time for thier children.Instead, they stick them in front of television whenever they are out of school. Then, when the child repeats what they see on TV,they give them "time out"instead of parenting. The kid grow up with no Father and no Mother to relate to.the only interaction the childs sees is discipline.Schools do not teach behavior.Todays parents are negligent and self centered.Thier "job" can ruin thier family and thier children if they allow it.What would it hurt for them to take a few minutes and go outside ,away from electronics, and play with thier child.Chilldren shoud not have cell phones and video games and only 2 hours of TV a day.
