As a retired teacher,I read this article with interest, curious about techniques, procedures and implementation. The article did not provide this information but was liberally sprinkled with the names of high profile politicians such as Rahm Emanuel. Because of this, I would be very interested in seeing the curricula,, particularly the history, social studies and literature selections. Are these schools actually experimental attempts to provide quality educations or is their role to indoctrinate students to accept radical views which are currently in vogue.

In my own area, I have seen a decline in the quality of the education students receive. Policies such as "inclusion" have blended regular ed students with marginal English speakers, the emotionally disturbed and low functioning special ed students. Many parents demand that their solid B students be placed in honors classes and pick up the tab for tutoring. My own children did very well in the public schools but this was prior to NCLB and other institutional legislation. Today I would pay any amount to put them in a private or parochial school.

Illinois is only a Blue State. In the Blue States the Unions own the Dem Party and run the Publ Schools for the benefit of their members not our children. Duh!

“i hope we can change this!”

I just read a great article about fundraising for schools. Very useful if you're trying to help out with non profit organizations too :

I think the best way to reform schools is to have mandatory nude swimming for the boys, and punishment should be bare-bottom spanking. When administered to boys, it should be done by a female teacher, in front of the female students.
