I'm from the Philippines and I have got this invitation from a reputable school in Almaty Kazakh. I'm thinking about whether to accept it or not. I want to know if the country is hospitable enough for Filipinos like me. Thank you!

Let's make this simple.... STAY AWAY FROM KAZAKHSTAN!!! As a teacher here, I have found that the people are just as cold-hearted as the constant ice pack that lasts for months. Good luck getting anyone to smile!!! They will probably break their faces if they try. There have been no great experiences here at all except for the high salary and free apartment. So here is what you can expect....
1) Extremely stressful working environment.... they work with the idea that everyone is disposable....if you don't like it, leave. This causes the teachers to constantly be walking on egg shells which has passed to the foreign teachers as well.
2) Lack of simple care... If something goes wrong with anything that is in your life ie apartment, transport, mishaps in the community, don't expect anyone to help you.
3) Bureaucracy... this one is a no-brainer....if you don't mind nit-picking and constant changes that are only beneficial to them, then by all means, you are a very lucky person who would be able to handle it...good luck.
4) They will hold your salary against you.... The fact is that you make almost 3 to 4 to even 5 times as much as the local teachers here do, and they want you to keep it a secret....I will let you make your own conclusions as to why. How do they hold it against you???? Well, again, that is simple....they say "we are paying you good money, do what I say, and keep your mouth shut!"
5) You are here to help the educational model..... BUAHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Yeah right!!! You would have better luck teaching a salamander to make sweet, passionate love to an eagle!
If you want to come to Kazakhstan, then go ahead. But enjoy the cold, enjoy the besbarmak, and I hope that you find a better circumstance than we have found here.

Harrow School now has a modern 25-meter swimming pool. We are not sure when swimming was added to the sports program at Harrow. Most people did not know how to swim until the 19th century. Water and bathing wasn't considered healthy. Of course in Britain with the cold water this is somewhastt understandable, but this was a general attitude throughout WEurope. This did not begin to change until the late-18th century. This included Royal Navy sailors. We know swimming was being taught at public schools by the 19th century. This included Harrow. Boys at Harrow and rgw think the other public schools used to swim nude in their outdoor and indoor pools. This was apparently common at British schools. At Harrow this continued into the 1980s. At that time some housemaster’s wife complained that the housemaster’s wives and daughters were prohibited from using the pools. As a result the policy was changed.

Figure 1.--This drawing was published in the 'The Graphic'. This was a popular British illustrated Weekly newspaper. This drawing was in the July 17, 1886. The drawing was captioned,'The swimming races at Harrow'. We do not know the context of this drawing. The drawing fills up the whole page.'The Graphic' commonly carried items about sport activities.
