This article is very misleading. It would make more sense if the voucher students were compared only to the underperforming districts instead of all districts, since only consistently underperforming districts are the only districts where students are eligible to use the vouchers.

If you only compare to Columbus Public, I'm sure the voucher students would score much higher.

Figures don't lie, by liars can figure.

Mom, you're right. You'd actually want to see the entire universe of data right before your eyes so you could then draw some rational data comparisons and limitations. I could not draw any meaningful conclusion from this newspaper article.

My concern would be if MY kid did better as a result of using the voucher option. That would be my guide on future educational decision for my family.
I wouldn't over concern myself with what the group did as a whole.

Gee Mom,
was it too hard for you to read all the way to the second paragraph of the story?
"true in the Columbus City Schools, too, where district students outperformed voucher students on seven of 12 standardized tests."
Vouchers take our tax-dollars from the students who desperately need it in public school, and give it to poorly-regulated, for-profit schools which, it turns out, aren't actually any better for the students in them. This plan isn't good for anyone except the folks cashing the checks and it doesn't offer any plan for actually improving education for Ohio students.
