Obama's two daughters attend a lab school, not a public school in Illinois.

EVERY parent should be able to choose what school they want their children to attend. It could be a public, private or charter school. Let the parents have a choice.

Obama is only mentioning "charter" schools, he fails to mention private schools.

School monies should FOLLOW the child, as well as, federal Title I monies. Where that child attends school, that school gets the money.

Let parents pick the school; let state and local school tax money, and federal Title I money follow the children to the school of THEIR choice.

Obama talks out of both sides of his mouth. He makes sure HIS kids get in a special school, but the rest of us have to make do with what is dictated by the school district and many times that involves bussing out of a neighborhood or attending a school that adminstrators have little control over behavior.

It is so simple. Let parents choose their child's school. Those schools that have underenrollment should CLOSE. If they were high performing, safe schools parents would have sent their children there. This is certainly an obvious way to get rid of poor performing administrators, poorly managed schools and poor teachers.

IT is about CHOICE: private, pubic or charter.

Obama puts his child in a school of choice, the everyday person deserves the same.

A vote for Obama is a vote for radical terrorism and corruption. Obama is a Chicago Democrat who's friends are Weather Underground leaders Dohrn and Ayers and convicted felon Tony Rezko.

Come on Obamarama, go all the way--you're giving half-hearted support to charters, why not take the leap and get behind vouchers?

Otherwise, you're sentencing millions of children to hard time in dysfunctional schools...of course, this is of no concern to you, since your own two kids go to Sidwell (private). Too bad you don't really stand for school choice that you and your children enjoyed/enjoy.

That kind of makes you a hypocrite, doesn't it? At least Jimmy Carter sent Amy to DC public schools. Walk his walk, don't just talk the talk (though you do sound so good behind that teleprompter).

Just more campaigning with no action. Maybe if he'd shut up and get to work something MIGHT actually get done.
I wonder if he's even FOUND the oval office yet.

Obama, in his Philadelphia speech, loudly denounced the deplorable conditions in black communities. Yet, he said not one word about the fact that those communities have been run by Democrats for the past 40 years. The socialist policies of the Democrats have fostered a culture of dependency on government handouts and turned those communities into economic and social wastelands. Obama also rails against the failure to educate black children. However, he gives a pass to teachers’ union special interest groups that are responsible for black children not being educated. Those groups are aligned with the Democratic Party and are against school choice opportunity scholarships that would help black parents get their children out of failing schools. We already spend plenty of money on education but it still has not helped us compete with other countries in math and science.

The typical Democrat idea of "just throw more money at it" is clearly not working. We have got to make accountability reforms that are devoted to improving educational achievement by focusing on imparting knowledge and skills and making teachers, administrators, and students accountable for success or failure.

The public school system is only there to brainwash your children with communist propoganda. And if they should miss a day of classes, they can always get it from their television.

After trashing the No Child Left Behind, Obama has no plans to change the program.

Leaves troops in Iraq. Leaves wiretaps in place. No child left behind....

Seems that Obama is validating the Bush administration

If teachers get rewarded when their students do well on tests and schoolwork then it's going to get a lot easier to cheat on tests! No homework? No problem, just fill in the answers as we go over it in class! Then we'll have a bunch of Grade A morons running around. They passed the tests, but they don't know anything. Great way to run a country, into the ground!

While we're on the subject, the law should be 'Eighteen and Out'. An 18 year old shouldn't be sitting in a high school classroom. By the time you're 18 you should be in your second year of college or working. Fifteen should be when it's decided where and how you're going to spend the next ten years. If your grades stink then it's off to an apprenticeship or a job, if you made the grade and know you want more from life than laying asphalt or customer service then you should be in a college working toward your goal. There are community colleges that a 16 year old could attend if parents are nervous about their kid going away to school and then they could transfer after a year or two. But to have a legal adult sitting in a school with 14 year olds is asking for problems and it's kind of creepy when the "kid" is even older than 18!

This is too logical.

Harken back just a couple years when our own shining star Fredrika Wilson was labelling the FCAT math test a racist test. Her justification ? Students in her district labelled honor students, had failed the test. This from a lady whose party has dumbed the system down so much, that we have 8th graders learning at a 5th grade level and being called honor students becasue the get pass. When they failat grade level, it's because the test is biased.

I believe the real problem is education and innovation. Most of you sheeple are too stupid to create an enterprise, thus spurring the economy. He is on point with the education issue. Can you imagine the alternative if McCain had won? Let's see if you all can answer the nations call instead of crying like a little beotch
