JUST MAKE THE GODD**N THINGS ILLEGAL FOR CHRIST SAKES!!!! I don't even smoke but these laws are out of control and the government sticking there noses in my life all the time is BS! All the nonsmokers need to mind their own business and quit bitching about these issues because you are the cause of more government control!! Leave others alone and worry about yourselves.

Yes. this IS about PERSONAL right. The rights of children who cannot speak for themselves. It is also CHILD ABUSE by PARENTS and anyone who smokes around children or lack the authority to tell the person to stop!! Do you know how many children end up with asthma and other lung problems AND the tax payers and insurance companies pay for it--hence OUR higher premiums. The personal rights of smokers stops where my air & environment start. ALL smokers are ignorant, inconsiderate and thoughtless, esp if they smoke around others, including in your car at traffic light.--The smoke enters my car and chokes me and my family. Smokers you smell like an ashtray!

This is called a police state..there is much more to come. Amerika is not free as people think, this comes on slow to condition people and to make them think it is needed. I don't support smoking, but the police state is created on the government"keeping you safe". How much have we heard that over the last 9 years?

First of all, why is the City Council even listening to high school students? Get real, kids are idiots. This is not how I want my tax dollars spent! Secondly this is an absurd law. Ban this, ban that, on and on. I agree with Rose, tackle the more pressing issues.

Then you should be arrested, shackled and thrown in jail if you allow your child to go outside and breath the pollution that will eventually affect their lungs. If your child is under 18 years old and you allow them to be outside breathing in car fumes and everything else that pollutes the air, then you are just as guilty as the parents who smoke around their children. Eat those apples you cranky old loonatick goofball. You are the kind of nut case people that makes this country the crazy whacko place it is now days. How dare you say that just because people smoke they are ignorant, inconsiderant and thoughtless. Who are you to judge anyone elses lives? Spill your beans and let us judge the wrongs you do each and every day. I bet theres another whole can of worms where you are concerned. You know...I don't even smoke and I find you to be offensive and a whack job.

Wow. I am for and against this. I don't want the federal, state or local govt. having this much control over me. However, I think the intent is honest. I know I have seen many children (especially) babies in cars where someone is smoking and have thought about a law that would protect them. The truth of the matter is though, if people would just do the right thing then these types of laws would not have to exist.

Good Idea !!! Ever see an idiot with a cigerette dangling from their hand as they hold hands and walk with a small child. That smoke is right in kid's face. Gov't should grow the balls to ban cigerettes 100%

About time, I am tired of seeing kids in car seats in the back and white trash parents smoking up front thinking their smoke is not going right back in the kids face. Grow up folks, if you want to smoke do so, but dont let it affect others.

I agree with you. I have 3 children in my extended family who grew up with smoking in their household's and all have asthma. They were, and still are subjected to second hand smoke on a continuous basis, both in the home and the car. However, where do we stop with allowing the government to control what we do? Will they soon start banning all unhealthy foods? Fast food? Come on, there has to be a limit where the government can't interfere with our personal lives. If people made good decisions in life we wouldn't have these issues at all. But, it isn't the government's place to tell adults how to live, or parent for that matter.

I am a non-smoker, I don't like it. Grew up with it as so many people did/do. However, it is not illegal therefore no government, big or small, can tell someone what they can do in their own car. When is this facism going to stop!!

So let's see if I understand...no smoking in bars and restaurants etc, no smoking in your car with your kids in it....but yet we don't care about whether or not there is smog and other harmful pollutants in the air that are just as harmful, if not more so. Sure, makes sense to me. Why don't we worry about the big picture first and make sure our air is clean from car pollution and the pollution put out by our factories before we start taking away yet another freedom of our citizens.

If lawyers would keep their damn noses out of everything, we as taxpayers wouldn't have to foot the bills! Yes, smoking is gross! It is NOT illegal! I'm 51 and my mom smoked -- I didn't have asthma nor do I have lung problems, none of us were underweight babies, etc. Where the hell are the parents of the teenagers (and preteens) that I see smoking?? Huh! Get real and stop that first!!

Oh my god whos going to check peoples homes, maybe we can hire some extra police officers and have them go to known criminals that smoke. What about drinking we could have special people watch parents who drink and smack their kids around, we could start and build a special jail for smokers and people that have a beer once a day. Im sure our goverment has lots of money to handle all these offenders. Dont forget a jail for all these people too, lets say one that houses about 100,000. That should get America back to work. Oh by the way while the parents are in jail you all can babysit all thoses screaming kinds at your houses.

As a citizen of Washington Court House, this doesn't suprise me at all. Rather than look at the more important issues concerning our town, the City Council as usual is entertaining new ways to tell me how to live my life. I am a smoker, however, I do not smoke in the house, or in the car and I do that for my children and their health. If others wish to subject their children to secondhand smoke, it is unfortunatly their choice. This is the 21st century and it is time that Washington Court House join it. I have never been so embarrassed to admit I live there or to have to find out about new laws being proposed in this manner.
