Teacher's anti-gay marriage button spurs parent protest

A lesbian mother has started an online petition drive urging the Port Angeles School District to prohibit politicking by teachers after an instructor wore a "No on 74" button in her daughter's eighth-grade classroom.

After the 4 more years which are upon us with Obama , the country will be crying for a real conservative.
You're part right. After four more years of Obama, every time the country hears the phrase "real conservative" it will start crying. The GOP has well and truly driven past the last exit to relevance. They can now join the Tories, Whigs, Dixiecrats and every other has-been party in our history. It grieves me to see the great thing that Lincoln created brought so low by the involvement of christians, morons and moronic christians. I wonder what party will rise next to take the distaff side. It won't be the conservative party as long as it remains anti-everything that real people are. The Green Party? Libertarians? Not the Tea Party, which is deader even than the GOP. We'll just have to wait and see.

Don't forget she backed up and endorsed Rubio.
Romney's big loss has caused you to have a psychotic break with reality. Haven't you realized that the "polls" you read are WRONG?????? Sarah Palin will NEVER hold public office again. She doesn't want all her ethics violations brought up in the press AGAIN.

How do you feel about Sarah running in 2016?
\

Sarah Palin is a joke and I would welcome her running in 2016 - it would be the easiest victory Democrats ever had and it would have the additional advantage of being the funniest campaign in decades.

She's so useless and vapid that even Republicans would be laughing at her as they went to vote for the Democratic candidate.

And she'd do what she did in Alaska - she'd quit halfway through because she could make more money writing another book.

The ice queen's trailer trash kid was told by a judge to either join the service or go to jail because of his extremely VIOLENT tendencies. You'd best quit worshipping the ice queen and her trailer trash "family" and find someone else to emulate.
Like honey boo-boo and her "family".

The most likely democratic candidate will be hillary clinton, a woman who hasn't relied on empty rhetoric and pseudo-patriotism. She even has a daughter who doesn't have a child bon out of wedlock.
Where are these gay fans of hers? You really think there are enough to be a factor in an election?
That her looks are even a factor to the writer shows how shallow her argument is.

And while I watch FOX each day, that does not mean I am a fan of, nor agree with, every person on the network. For instance, I like Mike Huckabee and agree with a lot he has to say, but I woulld still never consider voting for the man for ANY political position.
I do not support Sarah Palin. I have never supported Sarah Palin. She's a media-whore and a flake, and she should just go away and leave us all in peace.
She's kinda like a poor man's Lindsay Lohan.

The big leftist anti-Christian party is going to end.
"Sarah Palin 2016? Conservative Pundit Charlotte Allen Thinks That's A Fantastic Idea "
Allen argues that Palin could disarm the Democrats' "war on women" refrain because she's a woman who has daughters. Palin is also anti-gay marriage, but has gay fans, which Allen appears to suggest she could use to build some support in the LGBT arena. And Palin's son is an Iraq war vet, so she's got the "patriot" card down, Allen writes. What's more, Allen writes, Palin is better looking than her potential female opponents.

Your point is nonsensical

Even if all these things are speech that is protected - that doesn't mean you are protected from the consequences of your speech.

Wear your anti-gay button but then don't be surprised if someone else protests against you doing so.

Freedom of Speech is NOT Freedom from consequences.

I'm sure if someone were wearing a rainbow button someone else would be protesting that.

Same rule applies.

Suppose a bunch of people in the school wore "YES on 74" buttons. Then the other side would be protesting.

Now if you are really asking "should discrimination be presented as acceptable in a school environment" then my answer is a resounding NO.

Frankly I don't think that teachers - who are helping to shape young people - should be engaging in OVERT political displays.

Students however should be.
