Guns, drugs, and cash. Nice. I think this turned out exactly how they planned it.

The parents need to wake up and get real. With all the violence taking place in schools across the nation, the school district has acted 100% appropriately! It so obvious these parents are after money, and it is appallig!

I just love how it all boils down to race. Nothing about the parents being mortified about their childrens behavior, nothing about what they did was wrong but... It was for a rap cover, yep, and I got a bridge in Northern Michigan to sell ya too!

Scare the living nightmare out of these punks, expell for a semester then make them write apology letters on how it was so wrong. No tolerance may prevent another V-tech disaster. Kidds-- get another hobby, try checkers & chess

keep in mind that there are two Belleville school districts in Michigan. Both are spelled different and pronounced different. One is Belleville (the one in this article) and the other is Bellevue. Because of the unusual spelling of the second on most people mispronounce it making it sound like the first one.

Now I think any and all gun type activities should be banned from school. But if this was done on the kids' own time, at the kids' own house, on the kids' own computer, with the kids' own camera why can the school suspend them? I have seen pictures of a student with a gun lots of times in photos......the only difference is, these kids were standing next to a deer they had shot while holding the gun that shot the deer.

I have never heard of a district expelling a student for passing around his deer photo.

If any of the expelled kids activities was done on school time or with school property then by all means the punishment is just. But I do feel the school stepped over the line with this punishment.

I heard the state has passed new laws that allow suspensions for anything gang or violence related because these things are stepping stones to the gangs and violence taking over our schools. One small infraction will get a gang leader expelled. They are calling it prevention.

If you get pulled over by police, and have a small bag of lawn grass, you will go to jail. Thats just the way our system works.

If the kids were not on school property why has it become the schools business? Sounds like a racial issue to me too. I hope the parents do sue and win big.

Actually ducks she is right even if it isn't the substance the police can determine that you were intending on selling it as a fake and charge you. This is not a joke this is a reality to the police state we have let our country become. Stop it now, vote Ron Paul 2008.

p.s. btw those guns since we do not see a picture that was taking, were they real looking? or did they have the orange cap on the end like fakes are supposed to have? If indeed it was artwork for a supposed rap album then it should have went on the album and stayed off their myspace blog. Parents are wrong and they know it. They give parents a bad name especially when they are minority.

GR Press reported that there was a picture of a baggy on the table too. The original story on here did not mention that.

The big difference here is that the pic of a kid standing next to a deer would not also have drugs and cash in the pic...which according to the story, was in the pic that the kids are getting suspended over.

It just makes me sick when the first thing people reach for when something like this happens is the race card.

It does not matter if the kids were doing this on their own time or on school time...with everything going on today with the school shootings, and all of the violence, the schools have got to be preventative...it may just save a child's life...maybe yours or mine!

And, come on... a hip hop cd? This just proves how this kind of music has affected our kids...they put together a pic with guns, cash, and drugs to promote their hip hop demo cd...I think that says it all right there!

Instead of suing the school district, those parents should be kicking those kids in the butt for being so stupid to put together a picture like that in the first place...who cares if they were "play acting"...in the world we live in today, we have to take pictures like that seriously...even if they are just for "fun".

I totally agree with you, when I first read the article I missed a few parts of it. My fault for skimming the headlines.....
