Double Standard

If this were a male teacher he would be sent to jail for sure. She's only going to have a misdemeanor and she could teach again? A child molestor is free to go? This just doesn't make sense.

I have to say, these sex scandals are the most hillarious double-standard I've ever seen. If the teacher was male, he would be in jail for at least a decade.

For god sakes, they're even giving her the opportunity to have the felony stricken from her record upon completion of the sentence. She'd be able to teach children again? Wow.

This is happening all over the country. Go to www.schoolteachernews.com and click on the Scandal page. They have documented over 290 of these types of incidents since just the beginning of 2008.

Double standard is exactly right! Has she had to register as a sex-offender? Or is that just something we reserve for male offenders?

It's really sad she couldn't keep her act together - she really was a talented teacher.

The CA Penal Code is not supposed to differentiate between male and female offenders. The fact that she gets off with probation sets horrible legal precedence.

Complete double standard, if this was a male teacher he would be in jail.

It's too bad the District Attorney chooses to deal with versus prosecute a child molester working in our schools, especially when they admit to the sexual encounters.

You have got to be flipping kidding me. This EX-teach is one sick individual. I am so sick of ALL these female teachers getting away with this. Glad she didn't try to go after my son. She did invite him along with other male students to her house - hhhhmmm I wonder what she had in mind.

How can this double-standard be explained? Was the defense attorney's strategy to be to let the hype die down then she can quietly plead it away? She got off WAY too easy!

Sadly enough, I'm not shocked by this ridiculous decision; I'm sickened, but not shocked. This is a glaring example of sexism at its worst! I know both the teacher and the male student well, and she was guilty beyond words. She's actually guilty of far more than the DA even charged her with - the charges themselves were completely watered down, so to have it all diluted to the point of being erased from her record in a short while is so sickening and awful. This woman should never be around teens - ever! She's tried to seduce other boys (seen it), she's provided alcohol to several students, she's had parties at her home for kids she's coached, and she's behaved inappropriately with teens on numerous occasions. This is all well-known in several student groups and by their parents. Now to hear she essentially gets to walk AND doesn't have to register as a sex offender AND could someday teach again? No words can describe my disgust.

You fool for ratting on your teacher, all you did was ruin a good thing for your loser butt and all her future students. All this nice teacher was doing was teaching a little sex education! She was probably just teaching safe sex.

Disgusted, I am with you 100%. I am also aware of multiple incidents that have occured with Ms. Ichord. She does not belong anywhere near our child and should never be allowed back into our school system. I believe the system failed when she was allowed to teach initially.

Those of you who claim you KNOW that she hasd all those parties, provided alcohol, etc. Where are the charges? IF that was true, there would be a WHOLE hellava lot more to this. Those of you that believe those rumors are ignorant, hateful and apparently very gullible. I know for a FACT she never bought alcohol for any student nor did she have any parties. If this deal was made don't you think that maybe there were some lies being told on the student side? Why would she fight this for 2YEARS and then settle for this? Obviously there is more to this than meets the eye. Her life is OVER regardless of the sentence. She was an amazing teacher and this is just a sad situation. In no way would a sensible person consider her a pedophile. Got off way too easy? She lost her career, her credibility, her income and was totally humiliated. Leave the poor woman alone you hateful, judgemental people. I bet you consider yourself a forgiving Christian too. Shame on you, especially "disgusted but not shocked"; you are just making stuff up. Pathetic.

sexism at its worse. Had this been a male teacher, he would be in jail for several years. This is absurd that she is getting probation and may eventually be allowed to teach again. I personally know her. I heard she was a decent teacher, but she should never teach again. She should not be allowed too.

Hey ANONYMOUS - You don't even know what you are talking about. My son went to Pioneer and us parents that were there heard a whole lot of what this low life child molesting idiot did. Just glad it wasn't my son because I would never let her forget it. She should be HUMILIATED she is nothing but a TRAMP. So AMAZING teacher in which "you referred to her as" is AMAZING WHY lets see:

Because she was always seen watching the boy's practice football or was it because she was inviting boy's from the football team over to her house when her husband was not around or wait maybe it was because she was inviting girls over for sleepovers suppling alchol and talking boy talk with the girls. HHMMMM she was AMAZING!

Again however if this was a male teacher he would be behind bars BUT yet again another FEMALE gets away with it.

Okay Anonymous - you have got to be seriously kidding me!!! You say you know for a fact that she never bought alcohol for students and she never had any parties. REALLY???? You're either Ann Ichord herself or you're delusional - get real!'Disgusted but not shocked' was right on the money. Those were not rumors - they were dead on with the truth. These parties were not done in secret - they were out in the open. Several kids were there each time (she held these parties for students and her basketball and volleyball teams) plus alcohol (and worse!) was provided freely. To try and deny it is pointless - there's too many kids who attended these parties and too many football players who were approached inappropriately by her. Don't blame & attack the messengers like you're trying to do - Ichord is the guilty one here, and dozens of kids and parents have experienced it personally. We're all glad she's gone - kids are much safer now!

Unbelievable!!!! Now they will probably let her teach in Elementary School so she can teach the boys about sex at a younger age. That would make her even more amazing now wouldn't it.
