Wow! I graduated in 2006. Dayton has its downs but doesn't every city??? Its a small town, where every1 is in every1s business, all the kids r punks, a majority of ppl are focused on drugs or sex. Yes there is a lot of young kids having babies(but they see that on tv so they think its ok), and teenagers stealing, and standing around waiting to get into trouble. But ppl need to realize it is the parents fault partially. When u were a teen did u listen to everything ur mom said?? I was a goodie 2 shoes but still misbehaved on occassion. Their parents are prolly 2 worried bout working 2 make money or on drugs. dayton is so small with nothing for them to do, so they sit and hang on the corner.(Which makes them look like prositutes) they have the ymca and the levee, but a majority of ppl at the ymca are skaters and the not every1 can afford to hand out money to their kids for the levee. The ymca is only fun for a certain group. I've nvr been to it and I've lived here my whole life. Dayton is not Perfect but is any place completly perfect?? Dnt look dwn upon the ppl who reside in dayton cuz not all of us r "lowlifes" as u put it. Some ppl r jus stuck in dayton who r continually tryin to improve it but there efforts r always shot dwn. There are good people who live in dayton, but since the news only shows the bad things, no one sees the good. Such as the church bingo, or helping other families with food. Or even the young preschoolers, or the sports teams, or the "light up dayton" event that jus passed. There are a lot of bars in dayton and that's all the kids see in real life and on tv so they think its "cool". I have a very strong (and long ) opinon on this subject. I dnt know the teacher or the student, but im not going to lie. When I was a senior there was a teacher who was always hittin on and lettin the boys hit on her. But that was cuz she was young and pretty but idk if it went any farther (even tho students went to her house and she dated another teacher) u just have to face the facts. If its true then it could happen anywhere. Jus cuz it happened in dayton dnt make dayton trash. I love being born and raised in dayton so please respect not everyone here is trash. Thanks!(And she could have gave him detention or soemthing like that and he got mad and decided to lie and get back at her or something similar like that. Everyone lies so until we know the truth we can't bad mouth anyone!)

All of the problems going on in Dayton used to go on in Newport-too many juvenile delinquents looking for trouble, bad schools, bars on every corner, drugs, etc. Newport is in no way perfect now but it has come a looooong way. It went from a sleazy scum hole to a booming developing town that has brought in money from its development projects and in turn put some of that money back into the schools, business, and streets. Dayton should take a hard look at the road that Newport traveled and try to make some changes. Bellevue took a cue from Newport and started developing their Riverfront and focused on luring nice businesses instead of bars to fill their avenue and it has become a nicer place. Dayton has plenty of Riverfront that they could develop too.
The city has potential for a better future. Here's hoping that something gets done. There are plenty of nice hard-working families in Dayton. Every city has its share of scoundrels.

I agree with truelyamazed.

it's seems like everyone in this city is quick to defend this boy.. from what i heard this boy "player" and is a trouble maker anyways. From what i have read on the other sites this boy has stolen cars and broken into houses and done drugs.. how can the cops belive a boy that has a criminal backround (no matter if he is a junivinal or not) he has done some adult crimes and if i were the cops looking into this case i would be looking at the boys backround. I would belive the teacher over the boy at this place in time.

omg listen to all you people talking about our town like it has never happened anywhere else. what about all the priests mollesting all the catholic kids? what about all the underage drinking and parents getting into trouble in florence what about all the other horrible things going on everywhere else. who says that dayton is so horrible. we get in the news for a teacher having sex with students and all a sudden we are scum? yeah she is wrong for doing it and yeah he was wrong for doing it but im sure that all the appropiate actions are being taken to ensure something like this never happens again but as you and i all know im sure it will because there are sick people out there all over not just in dayton they could be living next door to you and maybe its your child....parents need to be aware and involved. its not the city of daytons fault!! lay blame where it needs to be....

I graduated in 1975 from Dayton. We actually had a teacher marry a student when she graduated...they did see each other her senior year..without giving any names, this guy was a football and basketball coach.....he was about 5' tall....and taught jr. high......and don't forget the home ec. teacher.....she got involved with several students....so don't act like this is something new at Dayton....

Apparently the people complaining about the city not helping with a security officer for the school or keeping the Dare Program are not property owners. If you were you would know that the school gets the biggest bite of your taxes, not the city. By the way, the Dare Program doesn't work.

He probably didn't nark...was probably bragging.

Grew up in Dayton. Heard it's gotten worse, but I still know a few people there.

Every town has it's problems.
