So religion should not be given government sanction and support to promote thier social and sexual agenda upon the rest of us. Right Brian?

Equal rights equal gay rights??? How come you can't say "Merry Christmas" for the entire Christmas season in school, can't pray in school, yet we can spend an entire day being gay in school? Get real!

Why does this have to be about religion Mr. Blair? Maybe this "Day of Silence" will teach kids to respect everyone who is "different". I'm sure the gay and lesbian kids in school aren't the only ones who are bullied, called names and harassed. Open your mind Mr. Blair. Not everyone shares your agenda.

I'm glad Brian Blair is a big PROPONENT of gay marriage, seeing that he is "for all citizens being equal and treated accordingly". I hope to see him speak IN FAVOR of equality before the law more often. It's nice to hear the religious right talking about equality for ALL citizens...how refreshing!

Get real, not everyone follows your religious beliefs. This country was founded on freedom from religion as much as freedom of religion.

BTW if the country ever did become a theocracy, what would you do if you were the "wrong kind of christian"?

There is absolutely nothing wrong with a "Day of Silence" as a peaceful means of protesting the way gays and lesbians are still treated in 2008. This protest measure is no different then the protest lead by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr in his journey to secure equal rights for the african american community. To Hillsborough County Commissioner Brian Blair I say, when gays and lesbians start being treated as equals with equal rights we'll stop protesting. Until then, Rock on Day of Silence!

So Commissioner Blair, one-half of the former Killer Bees pro wrestling team, is afraid of a day to promote tolerance? He should keep his nose out of the school system and stick to things he does know about, like getting the lake alongside his house spruced up at taxpayer expense as he recently did...

A Day of Silence is a welcome to our schools.

How many of our children are bullied every day for wearing the wrong shoes? the wrong kind of jeans? our kids being overweight? or being geeky?

By the way Brian - did you send this while "on the clock"? That would be MY clock - you work for me, buddy and you don't bully my kids.

Anthony, you may recall how society across the Bible Belt, including the Religious Right, reacted to Dr. King's silent protest: attack dogs, fire hoses and even death. So, it may take them a while to "cotton" to the idea that gays and lesbians are entitled to the same EXACT, SAME rights they already have. I say give it a generation, or two. At least they've hired a better PR firm this time around: snarling German Shepherds don't project the right image for them on TV. Now we have the plastic-smiles of mega-rich televangelists. I don't know which turns my stomach more!

What gives them the right to push thier sexal orientaion upon others. If man was ment to be with man then man would have been made to reproduce. This is not the case. I bring my kids up to believe in God and if religion cannot be apart of school, what makes you think homosexuality should be.If this is the future of the school system I do not want my kids to be any part of it. I would like to start a new campaine just say no to homo.

This is so freaking stupid. I mean, come on! How idiotic can people be? They're protesting Slurrs being said about them. It's like when black people watned people to stop descriminating against them. Let them do what they want. It's one day, it'll be over in 8 hours. Everything will go back to normal. It's not saying that you want to be gay or not. It's saying that calling something "gay" meaning stupid is wrong. Which it is. Let it be and stop trying to get rid of people rights.

Brian Blaire must have been the mean and nasty bully of his school when he was a kid. He fails to recognize the point that it is not about promoting Homosexuality. It is about standing Up Against Ignorance and Bigotry. Do People think its right to beat up kids just because they can ?- because any kid can be perceived to be gay, even if he's not!
