I think the situation is very sad. I believe that Mr. Garivaltis must have become addicted following that snowmobile accident back in 2006. No one would risk their job the way he did for recreational use. Opiates are powerful substances that are highly addictive. It is this powerful addiction that causes good people to make very bad choices, that they live to regret. He is a good man with a good heart, who has done a lot of good for a lot of kids in the Adams/Cheshire school system. Most parents who knew him would say the very same thing. The person he harmed was himself, and he'll have to deal with the repercussions that will ensue. Very, very sad!
