A lot of us plan on working together "to figure out a better way than fighting about what has already occured"---by voting the current board OUT!!

Oh, I remember everything, don't worry about that. I have followed every blog created, every newspaper, internet article written over the consolidation. I just know our school district is now f**ked, and we all are losers now!
Our school is only f***ed if we are dumb enough toi let them keep going. I see the same few at every meeting while the rest let the minority push the school over a cliff. We MUST vote them out and start over and get rid of Oldham

Voting out the entire board then should be the 1st order of business for all district residents, if that is the case. I don't know how hard it would be to get rid of Oldham and the process for doing it. A new school board should have representation from all townships also.

Wow how dense can you be. This is not a boycott, it is called doing what the Board and Oldham would not do, put our children first. The cyberschool option is the best for my child's education and that is why my decision was made. The second choice would be Bishop McCort and the third is United. This was done as a family with all options including Ligonier. We considered including activities, family time, drive time and education which we knew was going to take a hit under this board. We took the time, weighed ALL options and made a choice. Can the Board claim the same?
You obviously do not know DOCTOR Oldham. kids always come first.

Kids always come first?? Are you serious??? Nothing and I mean NOTHING has pointed to this. Dr. Oldham has done nothing here or in Fernadale but take a district and spend it into submission. Dr. Oldham has an agenda and the kids are definitely not part of it.

What would have made more sense to do, would have been to leave the Laurel Valley building open and close the older, outdated Marker building and make the Carey building a 7-12. If the Carey building couldn't have handled all the students, change the boundaries to have the Ligonier township students cloest to the Fairfield township line bussed to Laurel Valley to help with the overflow. With the big size of the district, the south (Ligonier) would have their 1 Jr-Sr High and elemenatary, and the north (Laurel Valley) would have their 1 Jr-Sr High and elementary to serve their respective areas. Then, combine all the sports programs into 1 and alternate between the 2 high schools where the different sports would be played. Use tele-classes to have any extra courses. Problem solved!!:-)

Actually, Mywayofthinking, that would have put a 7-12 school and an elementary school in the north and the same in the center (at least, somewhat in the center).

I am saddened that the merge of 2 school districts has come to the point when the argument not to merge involves using my cousin's car "accident" as support. I am deeply hurt that people are not more sensitive to the families that have lost love ones, no matter what the circumstances.:-(

Yes I do as well as many in the Fernadale area who also know her and do not have your opinion of her.

Saw this on my childs fbpage. Our kids are still being bullied and harrassed! So sad when the elementary is forced to go there next year!

Urban dictionary definition of Laurel Valley:
A place you move to in PA when no other town accepts your lower form of lifestyle. Breeding grounds of misunderstood social outcasts, cry babies, extremists etc. A town where the general consensus revolves around complaining or bitching about the "richins'" of Ligonier. Raise ...your family either next to the train tracks or the New Florence Power plant. You can usually spot a being from this "town" at the local grocery shop in Seward... or by the gay magnetic SORE stickers they so proudly display down the side of their vehicle or SORE tshirts they wear. Do not confront these beings with questions reguarding that issue because it will only spark hostility because these people are always right in their own mind. Blame those of Ligonier of the cause of underages even though those from Laurel Valley are the source of the alcohol.

Laurel Valley: noun: Decay of western society

Laurel Valley: Gold mine for a dentist to set up shop

This shows the education given in the District. We have moved on and so should they. While we continue to pull away while they continue to try to degrade us for doing what is our child's best interest. Good luck to them and hopefully they will be able to suckle on the Mellon's donations until they decide it is time to cut the chord.

Will you people never stop? A stupid FACEBOOK page post and that exemplifys everyone's attitude? And ANON is still spewing Mellon envy... Grow up all of you, move on, and have wonderful lives in whatever school district you chose (yes, this is America and you can live where ever you want).

Yeah and how is that merger working for you now??? Looks like your taxes just continue to go UP!!!! I guess some of the people on here really knew what they were talking about.

Yep, taxes keep going up with the merger and with the super's wasteful spending, but with all the apathy coming from the Ligonier end, nothing will change and they will continue to keep putting in the same old school board because its the board that let them keep all their schools close by. Its sad, that no one from Ligonier will stand with the northern LV folks who are the ones standing up for every taxpayer and every student.

is achievement house cyber school in warning for AYP?

Achievement House was placed in Corrective Action II last year. In spite of standing at the bottom of the heap (even among cyber schools)...AH has managed to perform even more poorly this year. In the decade of its existence, AH has never come close to meeting even minimum standards. The fact that this parasitic sorry excuse of an educational offering continues to siphon tax dollars from a successful school district, is criminal. It is time to stop pretending that the Emperor has new clothes when in reality, he has no clothes at all.

Emperor has new clothes AGAIN??? Reflections (hippie name)are you spreading your propoganda here too?? Time to look in the mirror at Ligonier Valley to see why enrollment is FLEEING. If Achievement House is truly as bad as you say, they must be more attractive than Ligonier Valley. What does this say for your collapsing DIstrict?? Time to pull your head out of your A-- and look in the mirror.
