Why are most of the comments from the pro-merger people on here so mean. The pro-merger crowd seems to enjoy name calling and telling those against how stupid they are. Why so mean? People that are against the merger have a right to their opinion as much as anyone.
There is one chance left ( a almost impossible long shot ) for the anti-merger people to get organized and get the word out. People against seem to be very reluctant to speak out. Last chance

My kids came home tonight and brought up the topic. They were upset because this was all that was talked about today in school. "Why don't us kids get to vote in this? It is our lives that are affected". That's what they said the kids in school were saying. I personally am against the merging of the three schools, but I haven't shared that with my kids. All I could tell them was that if this goes through, hopefully the people given the tasks of making it a success, will work very, very hard to make this a better experience for them. They like their small school and the atmosphere that goes with it. I don't blame them. I do too. That's why I bought a house here. I really, truly hope the people that are so supportive of this and pushing so hard for this take as much an interest in things when it is time to do the hard work, make sure our kids don't feel lost in a crowd, get at least as good an education as they are now, and walk across a stage with a diploma ready for their futures.

And ice-cream for everyone!! If those who oppose the merger really want to put a stop to it, they need to get the word out as to why. There's very little time left to point out all the downfalls to those who think it's a good idea.

-$59mm over 15 years is really not much money and probably won't do much to sustain three schools in one.
- There are no promises after the incentive money runs out.
- The school board is not bound by all of the other 'incentives' in the proposal and can do whatever they want if the merger takes affect.
- The meager tax incentive to property owners will not last, probably more than one year and should not (though it does) play such a large role in the final decision.

Most people voting yes are either uninformed and following the lead of their friends or they simply need that $300.00 tax break out of greed and couldn't care less about the kids. It's not a good deal and the kids will suffer. There's one last chance to vote it down....

No they can't do what ever they want with the incentive monies. Thomas DeNopolli from the state controllers office will be doing audits. As he does with all schools. If you really want to blame someone for lack of tax collected Funds. Blame Wal Mart, Lowes and all these ARC houses. That keep popping up and off the tax rolls. Wal Mart Got 10 yrs of tax abatment. So did lowes and Herkimer county trust and then after 10 yrs they shut down. Wal Mart is the largest retail store in the world and you mean to tell me that they can't pay there fair share of taxes . Only religious and educational institutions are allowed tax exempt status. Thats the law. All others are granted by the state and county legislatures and can be resinded at any time. Ask your elected officials to grow a pair and start making these tax deadbeats pay there taxes. The rest of us have to.

We just bought a home in another State where they recently did a school merger (about two years ago). Total property tax for a $85,000 home is $438. When will the people of New York realize that they are being screwed over B-I-G time by their Government and there is a whole other world out there that isn't out to stick it up your a$$.

The pro merger folks are teaching class right now...we won't hear from them until this afternoon. Unless they break away from teaching our kids to come on here and yell at us like we are 12.

The real concern here is going to be when the $59 million is used up. People really need to take a look at Whitesboro, Utica, and Rome. Is this what we really need and want?

What's your point? The classes are offered and provide college credits for the kids who pass the class. You appear to be another pro-merger person doing all you can to shoot down anyoone else's point of view. Typical.

Blame the run on sentence on the Teachers. Teachers arn't held accountable for their mistakes. Only the children they teach.

You're not a student; you're an illiterate parent and one of the few people around here who don't want to see progress. Kids don't talk about accountability. You're one of those people who said that the state wouldn't come up with the money to do the major improvements on our schools 10 years ago and claimed that our taxes would be sky high if we did it. You were wrong then and you're wrong now. Face the facts; this merger will be passed by the majority and it will be beneficial to the students and community.
