I worry about this happening to one of my children everyday. How can people not be cautious around school buses. What if this were your kid. Think about it next time you're in traffic or behind a school bus.
My heart goes out to the family.

My kids do not take the bus, but I follow the bus most of the way home every day. It is CRAZY how many people ignore the bus stop sign. Do these idiots not know the rules of the road? If you don't know the rules, GET OFF THE ROAD!!
I hope this poor child is ok!!

We live on a busy street and you cannot imagine the wreckless driving near bus stops and children.

People are so selfish and thoughtless sometimes, makes me want to scream but no one would listen anyway, so what's the point? I don't even know why I bother to comment here. People hurt for 5 mins and forget in the 6th minute as to who even got hurt. I bet as I type this the driver is having a "poor me" pity party for having to answer to the crime. I hope the driver is really sorry and not just sorry for him/her self.

People don't take those laws seriously. There is strong awareness regarding breaking the law in construction zones. Beef up the awareness & consequences for people who break this law as well, these are our children lives that are on the line for heaven's sake !!!

The Show Me state should change its name to Show Me How to Drive. All areas of driving should be beefed up. This is the only state (out of many) I've ever driven where I've had someone pass me in an active school zone. However, the worst thing I see here is people's refusal to pull over for emergency vehicles. I once had to pull off the road to let an ambulance (with lights and sirens on) go by on the WRONG side of the road, because no one would pull off on the side he was driving on!! Wake up, Missourians!(And please learn how to merge)

I will second that! I thought I was the only one who thought this about MO drivers. I have actually seen people drive through the grass of my neighbors yards to get around a stopped school bus...I think the penalty for this kind of thing should be steeper.

I would make the female driver work as a school crossing guard for one year. She was young and also wanted to run from her responsibilities. I would also limit her driving to and from work and or school. and I would have her give driving speeches to high school students on the dangers of rushing around in a car.

I dont know how Brandy didn't kill that girl when she tried to get back in her car !! You would of had to have TWO ambulances at that scenne !! lol All buses in Rockwood should have a ride a long asst to make sure this doesn't happen and help assist bus drivers with getting kids onto buses safely. Prayers 4 U Konner !

To the family: Thank got your son only sustained injuries. My granddaughter, Haven McCarthy was 6 when she was stuck by a driver who did not stop for the bus. She died on December 10, 2007. This is a real problem in all states. I am fighting to change the law on punishments in the state of West Virginia. My advice to anyone who reads this is to fight for stiffer punishments. I feel like my family received a life sentence and the driver of the vehicle got a slap on the wrist. Please send any thoughts, comments, suggestions to my personal email:[email protected] Maybe we could join forces and change things! God Bless

That girl is a --tch. She was in a hurry, oh oh poor thing she didn't plan her time accordingly so she thought she had a right to beat the bus arm, shame it wasn't a train crossing arm she was trying to beat that;BAM. Then to leave, come back to try to leave again. What is she stupid besides ignorant. Pull her license for 10 years, give her some good jail time, don't treat this as a misdemeanor. Hope she is happy she could of killed an innocent child because she is a selfish --tch.

She isn't supposed to see or look for anything except the flashing red lights and the gate blocking the road.

Driving any further than 100 ft from the scene and/ or attempting to drive away a 2nd time, to me, would constitute leaving the scene and levaing a scene w/ injuries.

"The child is fortunate.."; to have been run over by a motorized ass?

No. Fortunate would have been if the kid got on the bus and went to school and had a nice fun day.

Next you'll tell me it was an ACCIDENT!

I hope everyone who is indignant here obeys speed limits. Right?

We're all obedient?

We don't all drive 10, 15, 20 mph over the limit, right?

When I see every law-breaking motorist cited and fined for their infractions, then I'll believe that the goverment is low on funds.

We pay huge sums to regulate motorized traffic and its all a waste because the government doesn't enforce the laws.
