I think summer break should be a full 3 months long. It never hurt in past years to go back in September. It was that way for many, many years and I think if someting works don't mess with it.(If it ain't broke don't fix it.)

In the UK it is six weeks from late July to early September, and used to be 4 weeks for easter but is now down to 2. We've got Good Friday next week, then Easter Monday, then on the Friday that same week another holiday date for the (yawn) Royal Wedding of the future King William V and Queen Catherine, then on the Monday after that another May Day holiday.$ official holidays within 10 days due to a very late Easter, a Royal Wedding and the usual May Day holiday on the first Monday in May here in the UK.
It's nuts!

22nd April, Good Friday.
25th April, Easter Monday.
29th April, Royal Wedding Holiday.
2nd May, May Day Holiday.

All official holiday dates in the UK.

Oh, and another one on 30th May too!

The $ was meant to say 4 in the last post.

I think there is too much WASTED time IN school. School hours need to be shorter and more productive so they don't get so burned out around April. And yes summer should be June-august.

They should have school till July 15th then have the rest of the month off as well as August/September be the months off before going back to school the last week of September.

After that then the entire month of December off as Christmas Month.

i believe students should not star school until labor day.Mostly because thats when it cools down.In all of my classes its freezing. But when i gp outside it like a million degrees. It gives you a total hea rush.No joking.Anyways its not so dramatic when fallcomes.Who agrees withme?I agree with half the people here.Including mysl
Schools would save on air conditioning costs if they did that and believe me. Air conditioning big buildings like schools are a pain in the butt especially the monthly bills and the costs of repairing the machines when they break down.

Each class room has unique circumstances in getting equal cooling and the net result is that more heat comes in then cool air.

I think it should be July thru the last week of September. Many coastal climates don't really start becoming nice till August due to seasonal lag and September there is minimum fog on either the West Coast or the East Coast.

Even the Pacific Northwest coastline is generally nice August-September as far north as British Columbia with minimum cloud cover in the mornings if any unless a weak frontal system moves in hanging around bringing drizzle and poor visibility.

Think of how much money schools would save and then the students would actually *gasp* LEARN MORE during the times they are in school with teachers feeling refreshed as well.

Students also have part time jobs so they can earn money to help their parents out if summer break were extended giving students the feeling of being useful instead of getting fat in the classroom.
