I hate to break it to Largelanguage but proof is not a scientific concept. There is no such thing in science as proof, there is only evidence that supports a hypothesis or theory or evidence that falsifies it (concept of falsification proposed by philosopher of science Karl Popper). In the entire history of science there has never been a hypothesis or theory that has been proved. Proof is a concept in mathematics and symbolic logic, not science.<quoted text>
But Richard Dawkins confesses he cannot prove but still believes in evolution. A nutter he is!
As for the theory of evolution, e.g. common descent, the evidence for it is overwhelming, possibly more overwhelming then for any other scientific theory that has ever been proposed. Thus far, no one has been able to come up with any evidence indicating that the theory is false. For instance, one example of the evidence of the common ancestry of chimps and humans is the identification of merger of chimp chromosomes 12 and 13 to form human chromosome 2. I'm not a biologist so I'll attach a link to a real biologist, Prof. Ken Miller of Brown, Un.(no atheist he) where he elucidates this point. Failure to find that merger would falsify the hypothesis that apes and humans have a common ancestor.
