Eugene White, superintendent of Indianapolis Public Schools for seven years, has told staff and School Board members he plans to step down -- a decision that could be announced tonight, according to several sources with knowledge of the situation.

The present school board has the votes and attitude to give White a hard way to go in the last two years of his contract.
I'd walk, too, with a severance package.
