I've been retired now for twelve years. I became an Elementary Principal, later in my career. Prior to that, I was a Reading Specialist. I personally saw value in improvemented students' test scores--regardless of whether my school made Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP),which would have increased my salary. I was not motivated by the possibility of an increase in pay (as Principal) to "inflate" students' scores; therefore, although scores increased yearly, my school did not make adequate yearly progress and I did not receive an increase in salary during my tenure. I retired in 2002 with my integrity intact!
