It was only the Bakers Union that was on strike. The REST OF THE UNIONS had already accepted the new contracts & all of the pay, benefit & pension cuts!!

So if anyone is a "greedy bastard" in this scenario it is the upper management & the Bakers Union. The sad thing is the Bakers Union only has 5,000 members and they're costing another 13,500 people their livelihoods!!!!

Its a shame when a company sells 2.5 billion in sales for one year and can't take care of 18,000 employees, especially after they gave concessions already. Mismangement again as always

Imagine it is the year 2012 and in a giant food lab brainstorming over a new snack food. Now, think about Twinkies/Ding Dongs/Hostess Cupcakes etc. Alleged "cakes" that can sit in a little cellophane pouch for months, pumped full of preservatives. Ain't no way anybody would come up with a product like Twinkies in the 21st Century.

Ever take a close look at one of those packages when it is close to the expiration date? THAT is why Hostess is no more.

Food habits have changed in the past 80 years. The company had already declared bankrupcy a year ago and management decided to pull the plug right now, just to make some kind of statement.

Drake's Cakes is not far behind, because people just don't eat as much crap as they used to.

Personally, I think Little Debbie's is gonna snap 'em both up so that LD can make the real thing instead of a copy. Mind you, I l-o-v-e me some of that Little Debbie stuff, especially Oatmeal Creme Pies, but you know as well as I that their copies of other products are just a bit off...it'll be HUGE (just like my belly) if they start offering the Real McCoy...
