Germany would be happy if Cyprus got aid from Russia, rather than European tax-payers. It is Russia's oligarchs who benefit from Cyprus as a tax haven. Why shouldn't they pay?

Also Greece can sell off some islands to the Russians to pay their debts and bills, rather than taking from Europe with greedy hands while cursing at Europe from filthy mouths.

Well, here's plan B so far:

http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/5adf82bc-9201-11e2-...

Looks good for Cypriot depositors, but bad for Igor and Oleg. Doesn't it make more sense for rich Russian oligarchs and their cronies in the Russian government to pay for the bailout, rather than citizens of Cyprus?

I wonder why Russia was holding out. Did they want ordinary Cypriots to suffer? Hopefully now they'll pay their dues.

Putin doesn't give a damn how much the wealthy Russians will lose because in his book they deserve it. They took their money to Cyprus to avoid paying Russia taxes and he hopes that this new development will convince some to bring the rest of the money back home.

He thought to use this golden opportunity to squeeze the Cypriots but he failed. He also knows that it makes no business sense to loan money to the Cypriot banks with the high risk of defaulting soon. Don't underestimate Putin, He knows his people better than anybody and he knows that loan or no loan, they will take their money out as soon as the banks open.

Why would anybody loan money to a country that is defaulting? The world has already experienced the Greeks and knows how hard it is for the Greeks to learn and change their ways. I do hope they accept the haircut and also that they wake up and demand from Anastasiades that he spares the little guys and increases the taxes on the 100,000 and over.

Bwa ha ha ha ha. Is that the level of your understanding of Putin's Russia? All that has change under Putin is which oligarchs are in favour, depending on whether they dare challenge his ultimate authority, or how useful they are to his own endds.

Regarding tax evasion, have you even heard of Sergei Magnitsky, and what the Russian state did to him when he *uncovered* tax evasion and tax fraud? Your narrative is idiotic.
