One year visa? I guess that mean we should plan to support them with our tax dollars for the next 20 years.

And who will be paying for this?? Will they be using the funds that were sent to them for airfare, lodging, meals, transportation, etc...Or will the money be coming from other sources???

A beloved family member of theirs died. Dead. End of the line. Gone forever. Murdered. By 7 walking testaments to bad parenting, unequalled and shockingly accepted prejudice, and senseless brutality.

These 7 are homegrown hate-mongers and it's sad but the damage to their psyches has already been done. It's doubtful they will learn from this. Especially in light of the heinous refusal by a lot of Long Islanders to acknowledge tremendous, irrevocable tragedy. Blindlingly obtuse doesn't even begin to describe the backlash from this story in terms of people 'siding' with the 7 or simply brushing aside that Ecuadorean family man's murder.

Anything like this ever happen to anyone here? Bueller? Bueller? Didn't think so.

The cost to get the family here is a non-issue as well as the Visa. If it happened to your family and you couldn't get here, how would you feel?

A cautionary tale if ever there was one...

Here is my problem with this story and all of the drones that follow the lies and non-truth that put out by Newsday. How the F---k is Joselo still in the U.S.A.? This piece of S---t is still ILLEGALLY not paying taxes, working ILLEGALLY in the U.S.A. and not to mention still in the news as though he is the victim, of what. Still to this day not one person posting or opining really knows what happen that night, not one. We will find out in court. I am sure Newsday will slant it for the Illegal Alien population on Long Island.

We all know this Illegal Alien Senore Marcelo Lucero and his Illegal Alien brother Joselo Lucero are ILLEGAL ALIENS.

The problem I have with your post; your words, "By 7 walking testaments to bad parenting, unequalled and shockingly accepted prejudice, and senseless brutality… These 7 are homegrown hate-mongers". As opposed to the Illegal Aliens committing over 4,000 “Senseless” murders every year of Legal Taxpaying Citizens of the United States of America? As opposed to the Illegal Aliens being Illegally imported hate mongers from other countries around the world? What would you tell the over 4,000 families that lost loved ones,“Dead. End of the line. Gone forever. Murdered.” By people that are Illegally in this country and should not be here? That does not even equal the amount of service men and women KIA in Iraq, fighting a war in a foreign land for 6 years and these Illegal Aliens seem to do it every year, get away with it and not a peep from people like you and of your ilk and especially my government. My government should be shouting from the rooftops of the Whitehouse and the Capitol Building but their silence is deafing.
How about the tens of thousands of rape that is committed by people Illegally in the U.S.A.; what would you tell those family members?
I am sorry I did not hear you?

You're woefully off-topic. What you described had little to do with the one family, the one man. You cannot reference the WHOLE issue of immigrants killing people when the article and the topic here is the one man who did not deserve to be murdered. It's very specific. You can stat-list all day long about illegals and murders and such, but you are not addressing what's right in front of you. I can't believe I'm going to say this, but think smaller, lol.

Think of your own family. Put it in perspective. A murder, a funeral, a tragedy. One. One situation. 7 kids who clearly were taught how to hate and may never see any other way.

Incidentally, illegal aliens or not, murder is murder. The issue of immigration is the government's forte and if I'm reading you correctly, Joseb, you condone the murder of Lucero simply because he was a 'piece of sh*T' illegal alien and didn't pay taxes. If I've got you wrong, please correct me. I'm quite sure you don't want to be seen as someone who's jumping up and down with glee over this guy's murder.

A tragedy that the man was murdered. The killers appear to have been caught and will be tried. End of story.

Unless........you are Newsday and you turn it into a referendum on Long Island and pound on the story day in and day out like it was 9-11.

We put up with a lot here on Long Island, we do not need Newsday taking an isolated event and attempting to paint us all with the same brush.

This should not be confused with the rightous resentment citizens feel about line cutting, border crossing, house crowding, unlicensed car driving, law breaking, illegal aliens.

All Newsday did today was publish an article of the ongoing events surrounding the murder; the trial. They didn't set up a 'referendum'. It's only being discussed here because it's a topix forum open to comments.

Newsday is a local news outlet, reporting what happens on Long Island. You can't get much more local than this so is it your assertion that they start focusing elsewhere?

The story is far from over and will not be until the outcome of the trial. If one of your family members was murdered, would you consider it 'over' at this point?

The issues you describe are indeed valid, but are not specific to Lucero's murder in cold blood by 7 kids.

Think the trial will be conducted in Spanish and we'll have to pay for translators so Americans will be able to follow?

These "kids" should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, but this will likely not happen that quickly. I don't know if a one year visa that they are planning on using in Feb. will still be valid when the actual trial begins. Hmmm. I guess its not like they are planning on a return trip anyway.

You're an idiot.

Been to Hempstead, Wyandanch, Brentwood, Coram or Riverhead lately?

All of these towns needs improvement. There are quite a lot of people in the Mastic-Mastic Beach-Shirley community who try to make our schools safer, to better the community. However, we cannot completely combat the constant influx of sex offenders that live here, the section 8 housing (if that's what landlords want to rent to, what do we do?), and the foreclosed properties that bring down housing values.

We do what we can - if you ever came to a Floyd football game, attended one of the school's concert, knew about the Mastic Beach Property Oweners' Assoc, the Floyd Alumni Assoc or the Community Summit, you would't bash the community so much.

Your posting name says it all - you are a troll.

No. Why, is this a requirement? Also, just an observation--you came in here and look what you dragged in. Lovely. The whole discussion is now tainted and has degenerated with the addition of what the cat (squirrel?) dragged in. Ugh!
Why does this thing follow you? How can you get it to go away?

It likes to follow me around, hoping for a glimpse of me naked. We know it's game. Just ignore it and eventually it'll go away.
