Seems to me this was a setup by Correa against the opposition! This is a classic event that Thugo would do!

The police had Correa in the hospital and could have killed him if this was a coup, or they could have shot him when Correa said shot the president!

"The government also ordered all radio and TV stations to carry an uninterrupted national broadcast." The government has laws, like in Venezuela, that if the TV or radio station disagrees with the government, they shut it down. There is only now, 1 YV station that broadcasted that was not government controlled, and the administration has been working hard to shut it down. Will only be a matter of months before they do!

A lot of people here do not like Correa or his socialist policies. The government took over the electric company last year and this year if your need an electric meter you have to WAIT a month! As the meters are ordered in Quito and they only place orders for meters ONCE A MONTH! Looks like REAL progress doesn't it?

This was a COUP atempt... and later an ASSASINATION atempt. The ample audio and video proof demonstrates this.

The rest is just Machiavelian commentry

This was not an attempt at a coup, this was plain and simple a stupidity on the part of the president to look good in front of the press. The cops are no good here, the Correa Congress wanted to change the way they are compensated and the cops got pissed off. Correa, with his usual exuberance, escalated the event to fever pitch and created this embarrassing moment in Ecuador's history. Punto.

My wife is from Ecuador and she was hoping this dictator and friend of Chavez would get removed from office. Police made a mistake and didnt put a bullet in this scum bag. Having been their many times and recently. The very friendly people are suffering because of this commy destroying the economy with his policies. The two biggest cities were doing pretty good before he got into office and now with his hatred towards the rich its trickled down to the poorer class and stores every where are empty. When will the people learn socialism/communism doesnt work and never has. Hell look at our economy here in the USA. Its in shambles from just from a taste of socialism.

Whoa whoa whoa. Are you suggesting these welfare parasites quit complaining ( about what I don't know ) and actually stop sucking America's blood, find honest jobs, and pay taxes?? Pretty tall order for anyone who has been conditiond by generation after generation of sucking the old welfare tit. Time will tell.
