The father is a real piece of work. He helped his son flee to avoid prosecution, and wired him $ 80,000 in Ecuador. He took a plea to hindering prosecution, but now denies helping his son to escape, and supporting him in Ecuador! I guess the apple didn't fall far from the tree in this family.

Boy, people really need to rethink their constant misuse of the word "mistake," especially when it's an attempt to justify horrific acts.

Accidentaly discharge? The DA should have locked this father up after all look what kind of son he raised. A murdering thief. How come anytime a law enforecemnt person is killed, the murderers try to down play their actions. It's called if you go out with a loaded weapon with the intent to rob someone, there is no accidental discharge. It's called you shot someone you pig and now your busted and going down.

I presume the guy with the Greek surname is white; was the victim, Mr. Ross, black? If so, strange that Newsday didn't make anything of it.
The excuses made by the family -- "he was getting his life together", "he didn't mean to kill anyone", etc are all the usual cliches you hear made for ghetto punks. Maybe white trash and ghetto trash aren't so different after all!

George was half Greek, half Ecuadorian. If you don't know the person, do not comment, Harry.

Since it is a matter of public record and this forum is open to everyone, I will say what I goddamn please, if you don't mind.
The guy sounds like a piece of garbage in any event. So what of it?

If it is a matter of public record, perhaps you should get the facts straight. I was careful enough to read the public record and understand that he was indeed half-Greek, half-Ecuadorian.
