I know I've only been on it for a little bit but I have already started experiencing side effects. These include insomnia, lightheadedness and problems reaching orgasm. I know that Zoloft takes about 2-3 weeks to actually start having an effect, but I'm worried that these side effects won't subside after this time period.

I was not prescribed Zoloft for any psychological condition, but rather just for general fatigue, lack of appetite and decreased interest in activities. I'm 19 years old and obviously don't expect to be on SSRIs for an extended period of time, just long enough to get me on the right track to leading a healthier more productive life. I plan on discussing this with my doctor as soon as I can but I would like have at least a basis of practical knowledge before I do this. Thanks for the help

I'm a dumbass and tried zoloft at a party
i took 3, 50miligram pills
my side effects were not reaching orgasm
ear's popping everytime i swallowed
and since then i've had the feeling of unreality. Its been about 3 weeks since i've tried it
and i only done it the 1 time.

Since then i've still have the feeling of unreality. i think it might just be me now thinking that i have it when i really dont. Anyone have any help for me getting the feeling of reality back?

Hey guys, Zoloft saved my life and ruined it at the same time. I was on it for the past year and it seemed to really help me get out of the panic attack depersonlization feeling that I was having. The problem is that I developed a condition known as visual snow. I stopped taking zoloft and after a depression down spin, I ended up back on it in a couple months. After 4 days back on the zoloft, my anxiety and visual snow worsened to a level that I had never experienced. I immediately got off of the zoloft and I am waiting for the lingering symptoms to subside. Long story short, zoloft can be a life saver if it cooperates with your body and you can make it through the first month. But despite the research, it can be very addicting and hard to get off of. SSRIs should not be taken lightly despite of what Drs might say.

to tucker-

if that is the reason your doc prescribed zoloft then i think you shouldn't be taking it. if you insist on taking it try out 25mg first. i'm slowly getting off of 50mg that i've been on for 6 years. it's taken me 6 months to to 12.5 mg a day. the side effects of being off it once you've been on it are horrible. even lowering my dose was agony. look up brain shiver, brain zaps, vertigo as described with ssri cessation syndrome.

To Tucker,

Hey man, get off the Zoloft as soon as you can. Tucker, if you have a lot of fatigue, lack of interest etc,,, Man that is just you and how your are made. Go to a gym, take Spanish lessons join a theatre. There are so many things to do.

I was on Zoloft and Paxil that were prescribed to me whenI was 17 so I could focus more and get a better ACT and SAT score. I had no idea what I was taking or why. But when I tried getting off them at age 26 it was like I was quitting Herion or something like that cold turkey. And alters who you are. Yes who Tucker really is. I have been off Zoloft for 6 months now and have experienced a ton of emotions that I never felt before. Extreme Lows, and very high highs. But thats life and now I choose to feel those emotions now. The good and the bad.

Advising someone to go off their medication is stupid. Tucker the side effects will pass, I have used Zoloft twice in my life, both for 1 year.
The results were great and going off them was fine.
Yes I felt a little dizzy off and on for a week, but nothing anyone else would notice.
Like quitting heroin? Idiot.

I've been on Zoloft when I was depressed. And I can say that this medicine is effective (I ordered online from http://costmeds.com ). I can recommend it to people suffering from depression.
