I'm a dumbass and tried zoloft at a party
i took 3, 50miligram pills
my side effects were not reaching orgasm
ear's popping everytime i swallowed
and since then i've had the feeling of unreality. Its been about 3 weeks since i've tried it
and i only done it the 1 time.

Since then i've still have the feeling of unreality. i think it might just be me now thinking that i have it when i really dont. Anyone have any help for me getting the feeling of reality back? Will it last for the rest of my life?

I took Zoloft off and on for 5 years. I believe I am suffering long term side effects from taking it. I can't concentrate, I forget everything not attached to me, and feel foggy.

I have been taking Zoloft for 2 years now so I know the foggy feeling, and I have gained quite a bit of weight. On the other hand, I am a much happier person for being on zoloft.
No offense CharlesMac, but I find it hard to believe you would be having all those symtems from taking Zoloft just one time......it takes a couple of weeks to take effect...JMO

bridge,
I have been on zoloft for over 5 years, for most of that time I was taking 100 mg. Recently, I suffered from post-partum depression and began taking 200 mg. Now, I cannot remember anything and I feel like I am dumb.. literally, I feel as if my IQ has dropped 50 points. I don't have the foggy feeling as much as feeling like I have tunnel vision (not my eyes but my brain)... where I can't think about complex things, I can only think about one thing at a time and I can't connect abstract ideas. I feel like it is getting worse but I am afraid of what will happen if I get off Zoloft. I have tried to go off of it multiple times before and my depression symptoms came right back. Are you experiencing the same things?

I took Zoloft for four years and had to stop taking it because I could not afford it. It was 2000 when I startes and stopped in 2204.Stopping the drug caused me to have very seriouse side effects such as diziness, the feeling of floating or spinning, tingling sensations feeling like I was walking on a spring board. To this day I am still suffering with those symptoms. Not until today I started reading up on long term side effects and discovered that it is a dangerouse drug and there had been many law suits filed agaist the pharmasudical co. who makes it (Pzister) I am so sick of feeling like this.

i know what you're going through. no, if you only took it once, just wait it out. zoloft takes crazy long to stop affecting you...like many months even for the tiniest dosage. hang in there and dont take anymore of that stuff.

EDIT....
I talked myself into seriously trying to at least drop the dosage. i started dropping it down 2 weeks ago: the first week i went from 200mg to 150mg, then the second week went to 100mg. i have experienced minimal side effects (it really is important to step down in increments) except for the springboard feeling sometimes (not too bad) and some irritability (just annoyed easily) and loss of appetite (not like i had much of one before anyway). MY IQ IS BACK TO NORMAL. well, not quite, but i have noticed that i can think much more efficiently again. i can actually hold intellectual conversations without losing my train of thought every 30 seconds......my memory is getting better too, though i think i might have to go off zoloft completely to begin rehabilitating my memory. hopefully there is not long term damage there.

I went online today to see if it is Zoloft that is making me feel like I am disconnected from life. At first it was nice to not be so sensitive but now I feel insensative. I started taking it 5 years ago first only in the winter for SAD but then went to a Dr to talk about ADHD and they prescribed Zoloft instead. I get easily irritated so Zoloft seemed to curb that. But now I have issues remembering everything. Comprehesion is really bad. I also have no DESIRE to go out and talk to people for fear of not being able to carry on a interesting conversation. I need to get off it but I need something to surpress my adjitation.

You should all read the link above to learn about the brain damage done by antidepressants. Antidepressnts are really no different in their brain destroying effects from ecstacy or cocaine . They all have the similar effects on neurotransmitters.
You might also read books by Peter Breggin MD on the terrible effrects of these pills.

I also feel as if I have lost IQ points as a result of antidepressant use .I am lucky that I graduated college before I started using them or my GPA would have been much lower.I never felt less depressed when I was using antidepressants and when I stopped taking them I became much more depressed than before I took them and more depressed than while I was taking them . The drugs damage the brain but overstimulate what is left and therefore we feel worse after we stop taking them and are left with damaged recptors. Like most pharmaceuticals , they cure nothing and only serve to make drug companies and polititions richer.
I would hate to take the SAT now. I don't want to find out how much I have lost.

I have been taking Zoloft for approximately 10 years now. About 3 years ago my nervous system started playing up and I started getting fibromyalgia symptoms, weight gain, excessive sweating. I can only think this may have something to do with Zoloft. I have also been on dexamphetamine for 10 years. I have just stopped taking the dex and seem to feel a little better. Anyone else been taking Zoloft with Dex?????

I wonder what zoloft has done to my brain. I was on a very low dosage after being on a higher dosage. I weened off it and it took a while because I was getting these brain zaps. Now I can't sleep through the night. I have memory problems and can't think clearly. I am so upset by this. Is there no fixing these effects?

Icsoxfan,
There are some supplements that have improved brain damage resulting from psychiatric meds use . Vitamin e might help . Vit e is found in high levels in almonds. Manganese and lecithin could also be helpful .
http://www.antidepressantsfacts.com/pinealsto... is the correct link

I agree with everything you have said in your posts. I to, have been on 150mg for over 15 years. Loosing the plot during the most basic of conversations and feeling like an idiot is commonplace. It's hard to explain to people why you just seem to drift off! I to need to know if these effects are permanent after stopping after such a long period of prescribed useage?

Oily fish, ritch in omega 3 oils also definately helps when dropping off of Zoloft. Fresh grilled (broiled? U.S.) sardines, with all the oily juices, are the best!

30 years ago, It used to be an old wives tale in England that fish is good for the brain. It's now a medicaly proven certainty!

You will know when a particular food is required by the body because you will develop a craving for it!

Omega 3 in FRESH OILY FISH not capsules does help!

I also experienced this after 5 months on Zoloft for depression. It was as if I could no longer think laterally or brainstorm. I felt stupid. The doctor weaned me, and I've not had lows like the ones that led to the prescriptionin the first place since. I'm concerned it may have some other longterm side effects, however. My blood glucose has been consistently high (hypoglycemia -- diabetes). My brain function has improved, but it's still foggy. My dad took it for several years for anger management, and it really helped.

I think zoloft permantly effects the sleep cycle . Doctors are happy to prescribe sleeping pills to deal with the side effects of zoloft and then something for the side effects of the sleeping pills . Antidepressants don't work , are poison , damage your brain to make drug companies rich.
