My advice is to read as much info as possible. The shroomery, erowid etc are good sources of info. If you know any experienced pickers ask to tag along or for advice. some of my spots are strange as they don't seem to grow in the grassy areas but are abundant in and around the sedge/rushes. These plants are good identifiers as they share the same habitat. Just keep trying, peel back longer grass, look in the more shaded areas of fields. It's hard at first but once you get your eye in you'll wonder how you didn't spot them immediately! Be patient and persistent and you'll come up trumps i'm sure.

No worries mate, they are very distinctive once you've found a couple plus there isn't any dangerous look-alikes, only ones that may give you a bad tummy! If its got white gills, don't pick it as it's not a lib :)

A brief layman's description, other people are welcome to add to this if i miss anything.
Stem-Always bendy, never completely straight as are some look-alikes.(this is often a good indicator)
Cap-Bell shaped usually with a inwards curved bottom, brown and stickey if moist. Pale if dry in sun. Has a distinctive nipple on top. Gills-Quite well spaced apart compared to other similar looking shrooms.
Size-Relatively small, the cap is usually about the size of a thumb nail. Of course they can be bigger or smaller but this is average.
Add all of those together with habitat and if they are about you should find them. Good luck and happy hunting.
