Diphenhydramine it's an old class antihistamine with very good sedative properties you can buy it in the form of nytol(brand name) or see if your dr will prescribe off label

Have you tried melatonin? It is actually really good.

Melatonin is very effective although some NHS Trusts only permit psychiatrists to prescribe it.
It could be worth discussing this with your General practice Doctor

In general I am not a fan of natural remedies... I would much rather take the drug route, but these really DO work. I have put a number of people onto them and they all said they worked.

Depends on the remedies, alot is rubbish though I agree. Valerian doesn't work with me unless I take very high doses and then I just feel drunk ( obviously ).

The best natural relaxant I ever had the pleasure of taking was Kava Kava, fresh, not the dried stuff. Very relaxing with no unpleasant side effects and no hangover the next day.
The trick with Kava Kava is in the preparation or it looses it's magic. In South East Asia saliva is used to activate the ingrediant desired and not your own saliva,.,.,. though there are other methods for the Occidental World and it's people.
